Don't know if its any help, but I have an Ikea sofa, ok so only I live in my home, but its nearly 5 years old now, I have used it as a bed, had guests round, left it with heavy objects on (sewing machine weighs aprx 7kg) all day and it still holds the same as when I bought it.

My mum has a John Lewis leather sofa- I have no idea on the cost but imagine you get what you pay for... hers is older then mine- I think its about 8 years now? its still in great condition, no sagging, no need to plump anything (not that its the type you plump) and its only fault is to now have pin-!!!!! marks where the cat sat excercising her paws.

If your worried about "sticky children", just use a cotten throw- it stops you sticking and is far more convenient to clean them the entire sofa cover.

would advise against that one, look at the way the cushions are needing plumped already. imo it would look old n saggy in no time.

The only xp I had with DFS was when i bought 2 sofas with washable covers. In the shop it looked a bit like the one in the picture, had them out to restuff the seating cushions 3 times b4 i gave up. Seating cushions ended up half as plump as they were when i bought the sofas, despite turning and plumping daily.

I'm not sure where you're based but if its in the Midlands, i would recommend Cousins. We looked EVERYWHERE and we bought our leather suite from Cousins in Tysley, Birmingham.

The quality compared to the other stores is much better and the service is excellent. The salespeople are not pushy and give you sound advice. They are a little more expensive than Furniture village, dfs etc but i think our suite will last at least 8-10 years whereas a cheaper suite would need replacing after 3-4years.

They also have some good sale prices on at moment too.

Ordered one of the finest sofas in the sale which is being delivered saturday.60% off and quidco and cc points too,as you say.
Some of the largest tesco's have them on display so you can try before you buy.
I hate pushy sales people bugging you as you buy so this works for me.
Not a place you might think about but what about Tesco Direct. You get cashback through Quidco and Clubcard points and no long wait like some of the furniture stores.

We bought two sofa's in their sale last year for the playroom and they're really lovely and a fraction of what I would have paid on the High Street.

I liked them so much I ordered (different ones) again this week for the lounge and they're coming next week.

We got a pair of red leather sofas nearly 2 years back from Furniture Village, we have been very pleased with them. Only £800 the pair - they were for a second living room - but we have ended up using them all the time and we have 2 dogs who also like them. Very good value indeed.

I bought my sofa from DFS 4.5 years ago, leather cream one. It's still absolutely fine and it's the most comfortable sofa I've ever had, to be honest.

Mine is 'faced leather' which is how most coloured leather sofas are made, this is a kind of sprayed on surface. You do need to be careful with sharp objects and things to make sure you don't rip the surface. Mine's still in perfect nick but if I had a small one clambering around with buckles on shoes it might not have been.

I wouldnt buy from DFS again, My Leather corner suite which was "cheap" £750 suppose to be half price!! 2 yrs ago is rubbish feels like your sat on piece of wood, cushions gone really flat, leather rubbing off ( I was told this was real Italian leather ) never buy from them again many of my friends unhappy with the suites they purchased too

I remember watching an episode of Cleanaholics a while ago. One man had a corner sofa that required plumping up and he spent absolutely ages plumping it up. Also the cushions were heavy and constantly needed turning. He wouldn't let anyone sit on it either (but his wife and grandkids used to sneak on and it drove him mad! :D )
