Problem with virgin, is it gets in to SFO at 3:35pm and our flight to Heathrow from SFO is at 4:55pm and it leaves it a bit tight to get checked back in (although will do online checking 24hrs before)

The southwest one gets in at 3pm which feels safer..
thats a fair point. We did have a bit of a tight squeeze with that same flight, mainly because the luggage coming off of the Virgin America flight was really slow. The advantage is that both the VS and VA desks are in the same terminal
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Yeah we are flying BA so.....

Any who thanks for the info, will get the southwest ones booked at $59 each, as thats probably as cheap as they will go! :D 2hrs give us enough time to get checked in to BA ready for our trip back to Heathrow.

is it possible to get a room for 3 ppl through priceline, i looked at it and it only books a standard dual occupancy room no options to choose 3 guests. Is it possible to request 2 queen bed room during check in at the hotel or would i have to pay extra..

thanks for this very informative and helpful forum.

Is it true that when flying with Virgin Gatwick to LV if you have reserved your seats on-line you can still lose them if you dont get in early enough at the 24 hour check in stage?

You can always lose the seats you've requested...they aren't reserved, but just requested...there's no guarantee you will get the seats you chose...this isn't just a Virgin thing.

We were told once that if you use online check-in it's much less likely that your seats will be changed, but still possible.

Best to check-in online if you can...on the way back, we always check in online the afternoon before, and then go drop our bags, etc. between 10:30 and 11 the morning of the flight...that way we have our boarding cards, our cases are taken care of and we can head back to the strip for a last few hours. Of course this works much better if you have a rental car.

Can't help on priceline as it scares me to death so have never tried it...but most hotels charge more for 3 people (if they know 3 people are staying in the room)...so in addition to the priceline bid if accepted, you'll probably get charged around $30 more a night if you declare the 3rd person at check-in. Most Vegas hotels have rooms with 2 queens and 1 king...in most cases (not all) they are the same price...but in most cases, you won't be able to guarantee what bed type you will get.

Can I ask if you're familiar enough with Priceline to be using it for Vegas (one of the trickier places to use Priceline)?
