The Bellagio FountainsI havenet stayed at the excalibur (showers only in rooms i think)
BUT everyone definition of a "nice room with a view" is different.
What view do you want? and how nice do you want the room to be?
IMO the Strat wont give you either.
I see pebbles recomends the Orleans, I do to, as there is a bowling alley and cinema on site, BUT the rooms are prob not as good as the strat and certainly not as good as CC and the view would be mountains or back view of the strip.
Thanks for this, we will have a car as we are touring for three weeks but want to spend a week in Vegas but using it as a base to explore the whole area. I want a room that is clean, comfortable and quite spacious as there will be four of us. I would also prefer a bath as I enjoy having a soak and I would like a view of the strip with all the neon and lights on show. Also, we want the stip as everything I've read says that you really need to be on the strip if it is your first trip. Would prefer to compromise on location than comfort but getting very confused as there is just so much choice. Now looking at Luxor as it was one of the hotels I always fancied visiting. The children just want a good pool and the chance to see all the sights.0 -
hi
i'm off to vegas and i'm looking at staying in the stratosphere. the hotel website looks good but i've heard a few things that suggest its cheap for a reason, that its to far out on the strip and so on. has anyone whose stayed there got any comments good or bad
cheers
As I have not actually stayed at the hotel itself, I will only comment on the location of the Stratosphere. To put it politely, it is not situated in the nicest part of the Strip.
I don't think you will feel comfortable walking back to the hotel late at night due to the immediate surroundings. Please have a good look on the Vegas thread as I'm sure you'll find a reasonable hotel in a much better location, for just about the same money.
Hope this helps.0 -

The 1 which was pointed out to me was the Wynn - currently £258 for the 3 nights.
I have also noticed that Planet Hollywood is £170 for 3 nights too.
All be it you need to pay fully up front but when comparing these prices to the likes of Expedia, or their own websites, cityandshow price is very low.
Do I have any reason to be suspicious? We liked the look of PH last & the location is great but thought we'd be priced out of it buy at £170 I'd really consider booking it.
Any advice or experiences would be welcome.
Thanks
At the price pay the extra fo Wynn it will be the best hotel you have ever stayed at in most cities you would pay £350 per night and some for a hotel of this quality all in all its the best hotel I have ever stayed in (rooms slightly better at Encore byut Wynn facilities and location edge it)Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

cityandshow are fine, have used them many times. They sometimes have very good rate deals on some hotels, but the offers tend to only last a few days.
I currently have hotels booked through them for Feb, April and May0 -

If you really want a great view, you have to try and stay somewhere so you can get a room overlooking bellagio fountains IMO. That leaves Bellagio Caesers Palace, Ballys, Paris, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood.
The best pool out of those is the Flamingo and the GO deluxe rooms are funky but not huge if 4 people are in it.
All those hotels would be comfortable and better than your original choice.
If you want the best Pool in vegas it has to be the Mandalay Bay , the location isnt great but the kids would LOVE the pool with its beach and waves big enough to body surf on and the rooms are great. You could still get a view of the strip, but you may end up with a view of the airport.
I havent stayed at Luxor, but I know Ferf has, I dont think the standard rooms in the pryamid have baths.
As you said there is so much choice.
I cant remember when you said you are going.
Flamingo is avaialable at $39 a night for the next 2 days thru to end march(via fatwallet)
I have just booked a couple of nights at MB for $90 in april.
There are suites availablle at PH for $129.a night .850sq ft thru to april 11th.http://lasvegas.destinations.starwoodhotels.com/Planet_Hollywood/TZOO_08.htm
must be booked by 14th jan
If you are in Vegas for a week why not hotel hop and do 2.0 -

Perhaps consider the Pyramid Spa Suite at Luxor given your requirements...they do have the option to have 2 queen beds and with the extra lounge sort of area (with a 2nd TV) might be nice...plus the spa tub is fantastic...cannot remember if they have a regular bath as well but it seems that they only had a shower in the bathroom...and also the spa tub is in the bedroom area, so not private if privacy for your soak is required.
It will be a lot more expensive than you're looking at though.
Otherwise as you've mentioned the size issue...I would consider Bally's given your requirements...they have large rooms as standard (some of the largest standard rooms on the strip), baths, some strip views (though the good views of the Bellagio fountains are from the unrenovated south tower rooms and a view won't be guaranteed anyway - they'll be clean, but a bit worn and worn to some people = dirty)...they have a pretty standard pool though...it's just a rectangular pool...but it does have a deep end which most in Vegas do not. However, there's not a lot of kid specific things in the immediate area, there's loads in easy walking distance...it's also a pretty laid back casino (which we like) but which may seem a bit lame compared to other places nearby...all depends on what is most important to you.
I see photome has suggested MB...I haven't stayed there personally, but for the reason he states it might be a good choice for you...but again, with only a few exceptions with hotels offering strip view rooms at the time of booking, a view of the strip is not likely to be guaranteed.
Most of the good offers end at the end of March, so if I were you I would narrow it down to 2 or 3 that interest you and wait a bit to book...or if you want to book something now book something refundable and keep an eye out for deals closer to the time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
