    hi
i'm off to vegas and i'm looking at staying in the stratosphere. the hotel website looks good but i've heard a few things that suggest its cheap for a reason, that its to far out on the strip and so on. has anyone whose stayed there got any comments good or bad
    cheers

Hi there, we've just come back from a trip to Vegas and did visit the Stratosphere for the rides at the top - which were great, not as scary as I'd thought!!

We had to pass through the casino area, so this is most certainly not an observation about the hotel as a whole, but it really did look very tired looking, in my opinion.

The fact that is so far from the strip is another point against it, in my view, but if you're only going to Vegas to gamble and not sightsee, I guess it might suit.

By the way, I strongly recommend the Vegas sticky on travel forum - a huge amount of information there which helped make our visit even better.

ive stayed there , no problems at all

it isnt no way flash or upscale like alot of the places you see and its getting towards downtown so be carefull where you wander off to at night

dont be too put off , its fine as long as you dont expect amazingly flash

We went to vegas in march and visited the stratosphere. its a short cab ride away from the discount designer clothes outlets if ur there to shop. it is one of the older casinos and is a fair walk to the other mid-strip casinos.
We got a great deal on thehotel which is an all-suite hotel. Have you tried somewhere like the luxor or MGM. (MGM is my favourite casino to gamble in!) The Luxor is truly spectacular and closer to all the main hotels. I guess it depends wat ur goin to vegas to do. if u want to see the shows and look round all the casinos your better off with a mid-strip.
Im so jealous - whatever you decide u will have a great time!

If you had booked it I would say go and enjoy. Since you haven't booked it I'd recommend you find somewhere more central. Even maybe Exalibur in a widescreen room, or Luxor. Monte Carlo is reasonably cheap, but it has major construction beside it just now.

If you don't mind staying off strip somewhere with a free shuttle Orleans is a great place for the price. www.orleanscasino.com

You haven't said when you're going or I would have done a quick search for you.

Try sites like www.tripres.com and www.vegashotelspecials.com for good deals.

After the heads up the other night about this website I have checked it daily for deals 15th March for 3 nights.

The 1 which was pointed out to me was the Wynn - currently £258 for the 3 nights.

I have also noticed that Planet Hollywood is £170 for 3 nights too.

All be it you need to pay fully up front but when comparing these prices to the likes of Expedia, or their own websites, cityandshow price is very low.

Do I have any reason to be suspicious? We liked the look of PH last & the location is great but thought we'd be priced out of it buy at £170 I'd really consider booking it.

Any advice or experiences would be welcome.

    Thanks

We've booked it for November and looking forward to it. Reviews on trip advisor sound good and although its not quite as central it certainly isn't much further out then a short walk/taxi. My parents stayed at the circus circus and while some people would think it was awful they had a good time.

I think it depends on your standards, its not a 5* hotel but from reviews it sounds like a good hotel apart from the distance and reasonable priced. However due to the distance it might actually be a plus if you want to stay on the quieter side of the strip, or want to be in the middle of downtown and the strip.
