Yeah Stoneman, I have the same question. Fairfx don't seem to publish their rates on the website which is annoying........

I was thinking of getting the card very soon and as the $ is on its way up at the moment.....it's a good time to pu £1k on the card!

My DH and I are off to Las Vegas on Thursday for a week. We're staying at MGM Grand - hope it's as good as it looks.

We've never been before so been doing lots of reading up before we go but I'm sure we'll never see everything during our stay. Really looking forward to it though.

Some great info on this thread - thanks to all posters.
Have a great time, yes it is as nice as it seems, and no, you will not see everything, don't even try. Take in what you see ans spend some daylight hours around the pool.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

The rate is on the first page.

as soon as you click buy you are locked at that rate so as its gone up since I bought on Saturday I am out a bit  :rotfl: but it has a very close track to the actual exchange rate so better than changing it in a travel agents.

I only put a small amount on just to get the card set up but will be watching this thread to see how the cover bit pans out before adding more to it.

i might jsut buy traveller cheques when it hits (if it hits) 1.50 rather than stack it in the fair fx card.....just not really sure! :)

so you might have lost a bit by buying at that time.

Yeah, I know that now...but since all my budgets for the trip were at $1.42, I was pretty happy to get $1.44 at the time as it had been quite a lot lower for awhile...never can know for certain which way it will go next and would have been gutted if it would have dropped back down. :)

nvh - I have emailed them - will report back with their reply.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

OK - has anyone seen Danny Gans? I know he's been entertainer of the year for the last zillion years or so but he's not really known outside of Vegas...goldstar.com have discounts for his show at Encore (since he moved recently) and we're toying with it, but now I've read trip advisor reviews and they seem to be mostly of the 5 or 1 star variety...which makes me nervous.

    Hi

I booked flights today- wanted to upgrade with airmiles but couldn't for the flight we wanted (only for the more expensive flights on less convinient dates) does anyone know if we might be able to upgrade with airmiles at check in?

Any tips on booking the bellagio? can't seem to find valid codes!

So excited!! I've never even been outside Europe!

Oh and on that note- insurance, how do I know what to look for? found it for £10-something on a compare site but not sure if it covers everything? (have only ever used post office insurance before but it's too expensive for this trip)

Oh I'll be leaving this Sunday!

i advise you go for a policy that has high medical coverage ( a couple of Million at least !!) .

we have a annual worldwide policy ( with US and Canada included) with http://www.travelinsuranceweb.com/

they come top in WHICH magazine ratings for trips to USA and Worldwide .
i believe you get Instant cover, they email you the policy documents ect
Just a question has anyone got married in vegas

i have and so has Stoneman i believe
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Does anyone know what the weather should be like next week?

I keep checking everyday in the hopes that it'll get hotter as it looks a bit chilly :(

Was hoping for at least a little sunshine!
