  • Hi all,

What would you guys recommend the best way to book a trip to Las Vegas.

I have looked at various travel sites online for flight and hotel packages including expedia, thomas cook and last minute.com.

Would it be cheaper to look at booking the flights and hotel seperately?

I am looking to go for 5-7 nights in October.

    Thanks
    Daniel

have a read through the first page as it addresses the question in some detail...the short answer is usually yes, but some packages of late have come out cheaper...but it depends on a number of factors so the only way to know for sure is to do some comparison research.

Hi Lindsey - check out the front page of the thread c/o trets. :D
It has info on who flys out to Vegas and good sites to look at hotel prices. Mostly it works out cheaper to book seperately but with the $ rate at the moment, some packages have worked out better, so it can vary. I always book a hotel that can be cancelled with no penalty as do most people and then closer to your dates, offers usually come around, and I change my booking.

  • Thanks guys.

I am finding prices for flight & hotel for 7 nights in October from £450, obviously depending on hotel.

    Is this reasonable?

    Cheers

I can say that I personally wouldn't go with Circus Circus or Stratosphere which will appear first on a lot of these deals. Let us know if the flight is direct, and which hotel it's for. (Think indirect flights are generally about £300-350. Hotels can vary lots and are cheaper mid week than weekends and can rocket over Halloween - Wynn and Venetian, 2 of the best on the strip have offers from $109/$129 with free slot play at the moment for dates coming up soon, so offers similar in Oct may be possible).

  • The cheapest deals are at the Circus Circus & Stratosphere hotels - so I will try to steer clear of those and the flights are indirect.

Hi, I've just been on the Thomas Cook site to reserve our 5 seats & the front part of the plane is unavailable, also a couple of rows in the middle & at the back. are these the premium seats? I wouldn't have thought they had premium seats in the middle.
Also, do you have to pay any extra? It didn't make it very clear if there was a supplement.

The seats at the front are premium economy while the seats in th middle and back are exit row seats nd cost extra to book. Seat pitch on the A330 is great, so its not such a big deal if you don't get an exit seat.

The best thing to do is to take the advice on the first page - look at the package, then look at the elements separately to see how they compare - check the price of the same flight direct with the airline and the same hotel direct with the hotel - subtract those from the package price. Then you can see which is a better deal (remember hotel rates direct are per room, not per person)...but bear in mind that it's too early for the best October deals so chances are that you'll find better hotel deals than you see now.

Has anyone else tried to cancel an Ultimate escape promotion (link from fatwallet) at the MGM, and had the same problems as me?

I know a couple on here who said they were not able to view their reservation online.

Anyway I couldnt view mine so I just rung them and kept getting passed around (5 different people) and they kept telling me I had to cancel online as it was a casino promotion.

Eventually got someone who said she could do it but she couldnt email a cancellation confirmation and didnt give me a cancelletion number until I pushed her and then said, the cancellation number is the same as the reservation number, which seems strange to me.

Does that all make sense and does it seem right? I will prob call again in a couple of days to check it has been cancelled.

you shoudl be OK but give it 3 or 4 days and call your CC number this is one of the problems with FatWallet they often publish non refundable or offers or offers that are onlyt valid for targetted guests and then these get can get cancelled somtimes without even telling you, i would be very careful using any code listed on fatwallet.
