I'm not sure tbh, we have stayed in some very nice and very expensive hotels , and while there are very nice , with hindsight they havent made that much of a difference to the holiday .

i read reviews on IP that slated it and others who said much the same as I have , yes the lifts are slow ........some evenings we had to wait as much as 10 minutes for one lol , the casino is dark and smokey , but we dont gamble lol so didnt stay there .

Of all the hotels we looked round the Mandalay looked the nicest , it had a lovely pool area ( fine if you are going longer then a weekend ) , but it was a long way down the strip .

If you want to go up market then the Bellagio is in a good position .

We looked round the Venetian , its huge ..........though i think I have been put off itfor life after going to watch Phantom , what a pile of poo that was .

I still stand by my original post , i would rather spend my money on an upgraded flight and stay somewhere cheaper ............this only applies when the location is good btw , normally cheap means a long way from where you want to be ,.......if the Mandaly and IP swap places , then i would stay at the Mandalay lol
    I disagree.

We stayed Venetian "Deluxe" standard room and Caesars Classic "dump" room, and in hindsight, Id have paid the extra to stay on at Venetian or upgrade to a better room at Caesars.

Compared to hotel costs over here, its "trivial" in the overall cost of thing, to get a lovely room in a lovely hotel, and for me, it is the icing on the holiday cake.

Compared to the cost of an upgraded flight, its also trivial cost to have a decent room......saying that, the UC lounge at LHR and suite on board were great!!!

I think I might have to cancel our reservation at The Stratosphere as I can get the same two nights here for $161 which is $50 more but probably worth it. However, on the MGM booking system I can't book for two children (aged 10 and 13) as it only allows you to have one child. If I book my eldest in as an adult the cost shoots up to $217 which seems unfair when we are talking about a 13 year old. So, what do I do, any suggestions. I am going to email the hotel direct and ask if having two children in the room is a problem, but I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this.

    Thanks for any advice.
How about just booking a room with two double beds? No rollaway involved, noones going to count the number of toothbrushes....

    Q
How many guests do you allow per room?

A.Hotel policy allows a maximum of (4) guests over the age of 12, and (1) guest 12 or younger per room. If there are more than 2 people, regardless of age, there will be an additional charge of $30.00 per additional guest, per night.
4 free batteries, Shawshank DVD + 3 films, 3 Months free at Love Film, Grolsh Glass, Teddies for the kids, Moving house pack, dippo water device, tickets for motorshow.

I saw this on their website but was hoping that they would not enforce it when the additional guest is a child, I suppose what I am asking is whether I can check in without the receptionist doing a head count.

In theory yes - you don't all have to be at the counter when you check in even...but if you book for 3 - you could (again in theory) end up getting a king size bed and a roll-away which wouldn't really suit you and it may seem odd asking for a 2nd roll-away (not even sure if they would do it or if there's room for it)...so would depend if a king size bed and one roll away would be enough. Some king size beds in the US are the size of Texas and could hold a small army...but may not be what you want in your holiday.

As their policy classes anyone over the age of 12 as a child, emailing them to ask if the second child would be a problem won't really work if one is 13...unless you want to try to pass the older child as 12 or younger. No idea how closely they would check these htings.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

If you look at the main MGM Grand page, top left is "My booking" click there, enter your reservation number and your email address and that will take you to a page you can cancel your booking. You get an instant email confirmation.

    Stew

Many thanks for that, never noticed it before.

I don't have my reservation here (at work) to check it, but will at home.

I don't think you'll regret it. We, especially hubby, really enjoyed staying at the MGM and the room was really nice, much nicer than the pics in ferf's post show.

Remember that if they offer you an "upgrade" to a West Wing room that these rooms are much smaller than the Grand Tower rooms.

Hubby thinks staying at the MGM and then the Signature a few days later may be too much of the same thing, but they are completely different hotels so I think it will be fine. I was already thinking 7 nights in one hotel was too much so this MGM deal clinched it.

That said, we actually had a better deal last year. It was $69/night, stay for 3 nights, pay for 2 and we had $25 dining credit, 2 free drinks at the West Wing Bar and some other stuff.

Just tried to view my MGM reservation online and I'm another one who can't access it.

Got a message saying this reservation cannot be viewed online and to call them. Very strange, but it may just be a blip.

No biggie to call them if I do need to cancel it as the number is there, but I see no reason at the moment.
