We've just bought a Samsung 50" special offer last weekend £699 from Currys with some deal on a stand and home cinema. Same TV has now gone upto £849, though they have a cheaper Samsung 50" for £699.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Do Samsung do plasma TVs along with LCD? We have 3 Samsung LCD flat panel TVs and picture quality is excellent, sound superb! We wouldn't consider another make.0

Mines been super so far but I'd definitely agree with other posters that the sound is pants - very weak sound even on full blast0

we had a samsung 40" for our 1st lcd and we were very disapointed, the digital tv was shockingly bad, all artifacts on the screen when people moving and the speakers wernt much cop either. Luckily we bought it from costco so took it back a week later due to the poor quality. Then we went to look at comet and saw plasma was the better of the 2. Went back costco and bought a 42px700, which is a 42" plasma with the extra speakers and memory card reader. But the Tv is so so so much better than the LCD it replaced. I can not complain one bit and we only sit about 5-6 foot away from the tv aswell.
If you can go for a plasma, they dont use a lot more energy either as if you turn the brightness down like at night in a dark room it uses less electric aswell.0 -
I've been around the Samsung factory, you'd be amazed at the brands they produce for, a lot hugely more expensive but all come from the same factories0

50" for £700 just about tells you about the overall quality of the screen.
I have both a pioneer(42) and a panasonic(37) and they are far superior in regards to techinical specifications.
Remember each tv will view differently depending on room positioning and lighting, for full techie details either read AVFORUMS or purchase a quality Plasma/TV magazine and read up on the reviews.
You can either buy a large cheap tv or a more expensive good one; techie talk ghosting, picture noise and other screen issues are all of concern unless you just want something large on the wall to impress the neighbours with while watching Eastenders.0
