hi i have the 42inch samsung and they are great tv's, the best looking ones too
  • Probably not good as a comparison, but we have had a Samsung CRT for about 12-15 years and it is still going strong!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Very pleased with ours, no problems and very stylish too.

excellent tv but only dodgy point is sound - speakers arent that good or reliable

best to invest in a home cinema sound system aswell

Panasonic is likely a better make when it comes to Plasma, only beaten by Pioneer. However for a large purchase like this get yourself down to a good AV store, not comet, currys, dixons etc, but somewhere that has knowledgable staff which will show you the screens using varying sources (SD, HD etc). I would suggest Richer Sounds, had great service from them in the past.

Samsung are great, but to be honest you may be better off considering LCD rather than Plasma as in my experience LCD offers better picture quality. Looks at the LG range as well, they make fantastic televisions.

A good Plasma usually has better image quality than LCDs in my experience, they also handle movement better. LCDs are improving but Plasma is the older technology so it's had more time to progress and develop. Not everything newer is better, take CRT Tvs for example, they almost always offer better Standard Defination viewing, than LCD or Plasma.

Of course it's all dependent on brand, but I have compared many TV's and always found LCD superior. I would never buy blind, always go into a store and compare models yourself, then come away and search online for the cheapest seller.

I think alot of that is down to where you see them, in almost all stores they won't be set up correctly. But I agree that you should definately go to a store and compare models yourself. Best however going to a good AV store like Richer Sounds, where everything should be setup correctly.

    Samsung are great for plasmas

I already have one and i've just bought a second one (50" Samsung 1080p from John lewis for £699). It's the same ones as in comet etc, but with the all important 5 year guarantee!

Go for one, the TV looks awesome, and for the price, u wont get a better 50" 1080p screen guaranteed!
