Parking "tickets" when parked on private land

Are you sure? That leads to angry_driver offence code 950 thread...

Yes this is definitely him. Perky has many user IDs as I suspect MSE will find out in time. If you ban him he or one of his lackeys will be back. He has a rather sad and empty life that is only brightened up by lurking/trolling on consumer boards. He posted under the exact same user name on CAG the exact same request for assistance (CAG is another site he berates) but like an idiot then posted the news of his latest court "victory" under the same name, having first tried to do a spot of editing of the earlier thread.0 -

Has anyone applied for the full transcript and or the full judgement wording on this Thomas case?0 -
I live in a residential complex with underground secure parking. I play £150 a month for my parking bay.
I moved in, in Sept 2010, where I had to register my car with the concierge service, along with my driving licence ID and Flat number, whereby I received a permit.
On Sunday the 31st of Oct 2010 I had placed my permit inside my window as usual, but on the Monday morning when I came back to my car I find a parking penalty notice.
I looked and my permit had fallen onto my seat and therefore was not displayed in my window as signs instruct you must at all times. I have spoken to the concierge service and all they say is that you should correctly display your permit. I feel like not paying them for parking now.
I feel this is very unjust and not sure what to do If anyone knows anyway of helping me I would be very grateful0 -

You have managed to reply on a thread that's nearly 2 years old - despite our forum having threads about ignoring private parking tickets every single day!
Here's the current forum, have a read of the advice and I think you'll know what to do assuming the fake ticket is a 'Parking Charge Notice' from a private company (as opposed to a Penalty Charge Notice from a Council):
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
If you read the first 10 threads on there at least and look at links, you'll find the advice is to ignore. You'll see the letters you will receive from the scam private parking co (PPC) and you'll find a youtube link to Watchdog this year, and you'll see the IGNORE word is used in every case where it's a PPC bogus ticket. And google 'private parking ticket scam' and/or the name of the company who issued the ticket, and you'll find this forum is not alone in telling people this is just a SCAM.
Stop panicking, read up on this, nothing happens and your credit rating is unaffected.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My defence if and when they press me to pay a charge notice I received recently will be that if by parking on private land I am deemed to have entered into a contract with the owner of that land whereby I have to pay a third party for the privilege, I will test the law of contract by asking if I can be held responsible for someone else's contract with a third party. All I did was have the cheek to park on private land not realizing that it was in fact private land. The bit of road I parked on belongs to a college but just looks like a bit of the public road expect for a polite sign to say its reserved for staff of the college or permit holders. Since it was after hours for college staff, and there were no times given, I figured it was safe to park there. Not so! When I returned I was told the privilege cost me £80 if I coughed up in 7 days. Only when I got the charge notice did i go back and see this notice board detailing the contract I am supposed to have entered into by parking on the land.

If you read up, (here and at pepipoo), you will find that your proposal is the wrong one!
1) They will press you to pay up
2) You should NOT defend this at all, but simply ignore all their pressure.0 -
Why bother when a simple ignore see's them off after a few letters (which all costs them money)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
