Depends how long and hard the recession is, how low the value of sterling goes, what the real level of inflation is due to increased import costs... and so on.

I have absolutely no idea. However, I was ready to come on here saying given the choice between a flat and a house, always buy the house as it will hold its value better, but that flat looks lovely. (With the disclaimer that I have no idea what the area is like etc etc).
I agree this is currently the case. However we are not a net importer of energy, I beleive that over the next few years this balance will change.
Why buy a house you cant heat, when you can buy a flat that you can.0
