First 5 days done. I didn't find it too hard going although at the moment I'm really busy at work so haven't really been getting a lot of time to nip to the refectory for snacks. I've put the money saved (£12.50) towards my overdraft so I've gained financially and, as I've not been eating sweets/choccies/cakes but have been taking fruit and yoghurt instead, I feel a bit healthier too.

I'm actually looking forward to next week now.

I must be mad with my challenge, Going to become really sick of sandwiches over this next week. I have a full week with NO cooker, and its freezing. My mum has donated me two tail end portions of Salmon that I can steam at least, Kids have already complained that I have said its going to be soup and stews for coming week, as only have steamer and slow cooker to make food with. Its going to take all my will power plus some, so send all spare will power this way please.

  • Hello everyone,

Hope I'm not too late to join, but I only found out about the challenge yesterday, from my friend who has already signed up (thanks Tracey :A ). I've worked out that if I count today as Day 1, then Day 100 will be 20th April - which isn't until after Easter.

I haven't made any resolutions this New Year (why set yourself up to fail!!) but I need a good challenge to get stuck into. Although I've been loads better with spending money/impulse buying over last couple of years, I still have some things which cry out "buy me buy me", then when I get home I just think "why oh why". :o

    So here is my list:

Toiletries and make up - this includes all bath stuff, hair stuff, skin stuff etc etc unless I have run out and it is an essential item. I can already feel myself wanting to stretch the definition of "essential" :rotfl:
Magazines - buy them cos the cover looks good, get them home then they sit in a pile for ages cos I never get time to read them
Books - for both me and DS. I do find it hard to leave a bookshop empty-handed, so I'm just gonna try not to go in in the first place, and go to the library instead. I have just been through my bookshelves to see how many books I've bought and am yet to read - more than 30 :o - so I don't need any more books for at least a year.

    Good luck everyone xx

Yesterday was a half fail - We went to Tesco and got some yogurts. I chose the Banana Flavour with Chocolate Cornflakes, ooops, but I did eat an apple afterwards and we did well cos we didnt buy any chocolate type products or cakes when we were in Tesco

Today - Success, signature updated already
  • Survived another day without chocolate..... just!:EasterBun
Also took my own food to work, and didn't buy any toiletries :)

I really hope this gets easier as time goes on, I'm missing my chocolate already! I do have drinking chocolate as a substitute though, it helps me sleep.... honest!

    Hello Everybody,

I walked into town yesterday just for the exercise and had a good browse around. Was very tempted in the supermarket as they had loads of dvds and cds reduced. I only went in for some cereal so didn't pick up a basket and in hindsight I think this is a good tactic to use to avoid picking things up uneccessarily.

So far I feel as though I am doing really well.

Another poster said somewhere that they enjoy beating the system and that's what it's all about for me too, the shops are doing their utmost to get me to part with my money and it's great that they're not succeeding.

    Good luck to everybody.

    I'm missing my chocolate already!

Hahaha, I had a dream that I ate a whole packet of maltezers last night!
I'm obviously missing my chocolate too, although not as much as my diet coke - but did well yesterday and ordered water instead to quench my thirst.

On to day 7, so far so good :)

Hi guys, sounds like everyone is still going strong. I am still working on getting all those beauty products finished off and they are starting to go down which is great. I have not bought any choc, although have been tempted a few times!!

My mini challenge not to throw any food away is also doing better than i had thought. Out of eleven days, i have thrown food away only three times, however i have thrown away about £4 of food which has been a bit of an eye opener, especially as its made me think about how much i would normally throw away.
