    Very bold diagnosis!

It could be, it might not. Better let someone look at it, drive it etc etc. Recommend avoid main stealers.

May just need a good service and some plugs. Could be a number of things...

    Petrol or diesel???

Won't hurt to spend 5 minutes and clean it anyway.

+1, they may both be made by Bosch (or similar) but to different specifications with different materials. OE parts are built to last longer as they have a two year warrenty rather than the standard one year for normal versions.

  • I would put my money on it being the idle speed control valve, so worth checking that first. Or suggesting to the garage to check that first.
  • Called a few garages and most were saying I had to pay between £30 and £50 to have a diagnostic test so they can pinpoint the problem. Called a local mobile mechanic from the paper and told him the idle was sporradic (thanks Rev!!) and he said it will pr ob just need cleaning, so he is coming out today. (£20 call out charge for an hour's time) so fingers crossed it works.

Second question....why doesnt the heating work?? :-( suddenly stopped!!!

(BTW, never had fords before, am better with Vauxhalls)
