it is probably the lambda sensor you need dont buy it from ford , get a generic copy for about £30, about 30 minutes to fitEx forum ambassador

I would put my money on it being the idle speed control valve, so worth checking that first. Or suggesting to the garage to check that first.0

Called a few garages and most were saying I had to pay between £30 and £50 to have a diagnostic test so they can pinpoint the problem. Called a local mobile mechanic from the paper and told him the idle was sporradic (thanks Rev!!) and he said it will pr ob just need cleaning, so he is coming out today. (£20 call out charge for an hour's time) so fingers crossed it works.
Second question....why doesnt the heating work?? :-( suddenly stopped!!!
(BTW, never had fords before, am better with Vauxhalls)

check the water levels
also dont forget when its cols the water start off colder so will take longer to heat up0
