Car insurance rip off for being british

I been seeking a new quote for my car this last month as my current insurer (admiral) said that i was covered for being hit by an uninsured driver. More fool me, did not read the small print enough and yes i was involved in a hit and run by a romanian who had no licence and insurance. Luckily for me, i was able to chase and stop the guy and his mates and get him arrested but teh police was not interested at first but they soon stopped by after i grabbed the guy. Anyway, I was unable to claim against damage done to my car and the police did not want to prosecute about the hita nd run as it was my word against 4 of them.
Today, i went through Uswitch to find a quote. I have a clean record, i have a HGV that makes me more professional than the average car driver even though i dont drive trucks no more and i obey the laws of the road.
Received three good ones and then noticed an option for a uk based call centre. Clicked on this and a fresh search gave only three quotes with uk only call centres. BUT......... the cheapest quote then came up a whole £210 more than the previous initial search.

So.........am i right in thinking that being british in my own country is not racial equality. I get rammed of the road by couple of romanians that are not british. They are entitled to almost kill me as long as there are no witnesses, i need to persue and risk my life as the police that i pay for are not bothered by johnny foriegner breaking our rules and laws and when i request a UK call centre only insurance quote i then get charged an extra 200.00 for that priviledge. I wont say why i want a uk only call centre. May upset a few non british. What are my human rights to be british in the uk? Can anyone recommend an insurance company that falls into uk based, competitive and acknowledge the british thing even though it is already lost.

Im with direct line and they were the cheapest when i got a new quote last year plus they have UK call centres, I prefer UK/british call centres as it means the call centre is here and they employ UK/British customer service advisors

Seems fair enough. If you want an extra service that costs more then you should pay for it. If you want the cheapest then you should expect to get a cheaper standard of service. I think its good that you are given the choice. A choice you can make at the outset before you commit to anything.

I think its clear that you are a racist bigot.

Agreed, all posts from this OP have an underlying " racist " theme to them.

i would much rather speak to a uk call centre. i'm with hsbc and whenever i get through to "john" who is obviously not john, i find it very difficult to understand them. i hang up and redial.

and btw i'm not a racist. personal choice really.

I personally prefer UK call centers because I find foreigners difficult to understand over the phone (my work mates are mainly in Bangalore BTW).
It's not jsut simply pronounciation but also phrases in common use that they do not understand (for example my team at work did not understabd what NA meant (not applicable).

However it's obvious that UK pay rates are higher so you would ultimately have to pay more if you demand this serivce.

I have to deal with call centres with many companies and far more often (daily). Often its harder understanding those in Birmingham, Bristol or Dalkeith than it is in the Indian call centres. That said, it can be just as bad there as well. Location doesnt really bother me as long as the person can understand what you are saying, you can understand them and they know what they are doing.

Not liking overseas call centres doesnt make you a bigot. However, it was clear from the tone of the OP's post that he is as everything foreign is to blame.

people's tone is very difficult to gage on an internet forum. I think your assumption that OP is racist is ill thought out and a bit rash. You may turn out to be correct, but it's a serious accusation in todays world

I prefer UK based call centres because a lot of the names of people and streets/villages in my area are difficult to pronounce, and the indian staff seem to find it almost impossible

The Indian call centre staff are generally lower skilled and lower knowledgable, which is understandable, but like another poster said, you get what you pay for and they are on much lower wages. If people are happy to accept lower premiums from the companies that have Indian call centres, then they should also be prepared for a less expert level of service, simple really:money:

Which is fair enough to most people, but the OP's own words are "Car insurance rip off for being british" which implies that he maybe doesn't see it the way you have described.

I would suggest Adrian Flux they have been able to cut my insurance massively since I have been using them (1200+ >>> 400 this year). They are based in the UK though not sure where and alway very knowledgable and deal with modified cars which is necessary for me.
I find that the comparison websites can be ok but always good to give one of the smaller guys a go as well
