Regardless of how you feel about your SIL or whether you don't feel well enough to go, I think less than a day notice for a get-together over the (for many people) extremely busy Chsrtmas/New Year period is just not on.
We are not a large family but we always put our heads together well in advance to decide which days we are getting together.
But, I understand that you OH wants to see his family.
But, I think HE should also understand why you don't want to go and allow you to make your excuses.

Well i don't feel much better i think it is the virus i had to go into hospital for still hanging around so am going to go to bed for a bit then have a hot shower and get ready to go out. I tried to get mil to change it to new years day when we all have more time but she said no so at least it will only be a few hours.This is my signature!0
