Any Ideas On A Sat Nav Phone Please

  • Not built in but the SPV C500 and SPV C550 from Orange run TomTom sat nav very well from what I have read.
  • I am under the impression that all 'Smart Phones' are able to take on Sat Nav and if you go to a comparision site and input smart phones it should give you more information.
try places like pricerunner , kelkoo, dealtime, !!!!!!!!!!!!!, and even ebay will search for smart phones.
Hope this helps in some way

Yes you do, you can get one for around £40-60 on ebay with a mount.

I would think seriously about using a smartphone for sat nav though as the screens are usually way to small and trying to use them on the go can be dangerous
  • Moto A780 has built in SatNav. Phone is free on Relax 200 18 month (first 3 + last 3 month £14.50 - other 12 months £29). Good option but expect better technology in 3-6 months.

Don't they say sometihng like "in 100 yards turn left?" rather than requiring you to look at the screen?

The use of Sat Nav on mobiles for me would be seperate from my main unit. It would be fantastic if you could find your way to the pub\chippy\back to your car in an unfamilliar area where you could get totally lost

Most smart phones will do satnav. Maps can be loaded onto memory card and application onto phone. There are two types Microsoft based like the Orange SPV and rival Symbian ( Nokia etc )

You will need a GPS receiver, preferably bluetooth for a bluetooth enabled phone, so no wires needed. These can be had on Ebay for around £40 and work from AAA batteries.
Software , favourite is Tom Tom Mobile.

    I use a Nokia 6680

Less dangerous on foot than in a car.
    Direction is by voice.

Screen on smart phone is bigger than say Garmin i3
