Dooze girl do you know where i can get the regs? Just to let you know we dont have self closing.
This is Section B which relates to fire safety.

I don't know how much of this you'd be able to interpret - honestly, you're better off calling the council for help - it's what they are paid for, they won't tell you off - they want to see things are done correctly as well and they will explain in plainer language for you but from what I can see to the changes made in 2006 - locks 'may' now be fitted to escape windows and self-closers indeed are no longer required.
I can promise you that there won't be anything about the gap beneath doors although even someone quite dim could deduce that with a massive gap like you're describing (you do need quite a bit of space for carpet etc) that a fire door would be pointless if the fire could breach the gap under the door.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Not checked the front door as its so cold but all the other doors apart from en suite, airing cupboard and door to storage area under the stairs have the fire seal. Never noticed that before, just assumed it was the self closing that made it a fire door!0

all our doors are fire doors. Looks like the chippy hasn't done a good job!
Well they wouldn't be much use in the event of fire with 5-6cm gaps underneath! Surely smoke and flames could get through that, plus the oxygen coming under the doors would feed the fire.
I had all the windows in my flat replaced last year and they all have locks on. No issue re fire regs there. You have to have some windows that open wide enough for a person to get out of them, but they can be locked. :rolleyes:0
