When I had to complain to Barclays a couple of years ago due to them c**king up a Tax Beater ISA, I used their 0800 282 390 Head Office Customer Relations number. Not sure how much it speeded it up, but at least the person I spoke to was helpful and understood how frustrating the situation was.

That's an improvement on the 2 years it took them to get an actual Ombudsman to investigate the mis-selling of a Mortgage Endowment for me, some years ago. It took them 1 year for an Adjudicator to look at it, then another year before the Ombudsman looked at it and then found in my favour. Good luck!0 -

barclays customer service leaves a lot to be desired, called them today for an update, and still no info they have advsied also that as it has gone fos they will not liase with me now, only via the fos as they are "not allowed" which i have confirmed with the fos this afternoon thats a load of rubbish! 5 months since i complained to barclays still literally no response at all!!!! Dear Mr Varley.
I am contacting you out to express my extreme disatisfaction with the handling of my complaint by Barclays customer Services.
In November 2008 I opened a fixed rate monthly saver account with yourselves. The account was running fine until I received a statement for the period 21st April to 20th May 2009, where it showed the interest had been reduced. I contacted your customer services who registered a complaint and advised that I would be looked into as soon as possible. On several occasions over the last 5 months I have called for an update on the complaint, however each time i was advised that there was no update.
I have since been advised that on 14th August 2009, the complaint was escallated to the head office customer relations and their contact number is 0800 282 390. I contacted them and still have no response or resolution. I have called them today (22nd September 2009) and was advised that as I had forwarded my complaint to the FOS they were unable to liase with me any more and that they were not "allowed" to. I have contacted the FOS who have confirmed this is not the case.
This is a very simple complaint, and several advisors have confirmed that an error has been made however this is yet to be responded to.
I have attached copies of letters I have sent to Barclays, and request that this complaint is dealt with more efficiently than it has now, I am sure you will understand why I feel that 5 months for a complaint to be investigated is not appropriate or fair, I am fed up with calling for an update to no avail.

4.September
22.September
However there are numerous other calls made that I have not logged down. As well as letters dated 28th May and 6th June.
I request that you respond to me on this issue as a matter of urgency, and have no hesitation at taking this complaint to the media, including watchdog, as i am sure that i am not the only one who is experiencing the poor level of customer service from yourselves,
