My husband went into Barclays, Uttoxeter branch

    I went into Ashbourne branch

However, to contact a local Barclays branch by phone is a nightmare.

I eventually found the local Barclays branch number in an old directory. It still worked!

Hello. Did you have the number for the Uttoxeter or the Ashbourne branch? What is it please? Perhaps you could add it to the saynoto0870 web site. Thanks.

Has anyone heard anything back from this bank about the promotion?

I signed up and I've been paying in my money but I've not had anything on paper from this bank yet....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Maybe I should go in and see a bank man. Grrrr. Shame Barclays closes at midday on a saturday!

I opened one about 3 weeks ago (at 6%) and I haven't had anything in the post about it yet - I was given my account number and sort code at the time of applying in the branch. They told me I would get a welcome letter and monthly statements, though.

Someone said in another thread that this account is closing / stopping being 6% for new customers, after this Friday, by the way.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I opened my monthly saver in November. After reading about the rates up and down on here I have requested a statement as the 2 people on the phone could not clarify if I was going to get the 7.49%

    My statement reads

    Opened 7 th November

£250 paid in on the 10th - interest earned £1.08 gross on 1st December it says inclusive of bonus .65p

£250 paid in on 9th December - interest earned £2.88 gross on 2nd January inclusive of £1.73 bonus.

£250 paid in 9th January - interest earned £4.44 gross on 2nd February inclusive of £2.67 bonus.

Can a clever person please help me to check if I am getting the 7.49% rate or something else:rolleyes:

Last bit on the statement reads

credit interest up to £3130 2.99%
    £3130+ 0.00%

Subject to certain rules on this product your account may be paid up to 4.5% in addition to the rates above.

    Many thanks

Based on 7.75% AER (7.49% gross) I estimate the gross interest that should have been paid is 1.08 (1/12/08), 2.77 (1/1/09), 4.37 (1/2/09).

So yes you are getting the advertised 7.49% gross.

i didnt, i had to ask, apparently this account defualts at an annual statement, if you go into branch you can request more frequent statements, either quarterly, bi-monthly or monthly, i have been getting statements since.

  • Can anyone confirm based on the figures below what interest rate I am getting. Tried myself and got less than 7.5% but I may be wrong.

Edit: opps used 7.75% for some reason. Wishful thinking. Seems to work out correct using 7.5%. Happy days.
