Is CSA1 an exact science? (if so where can I get a copy of the formula) -merged-

IMO it is a disgrace that anyone is still on CSA1. It is a complicated calculation and should be consigned to history.

I agree with that aswell. Its esoteric - probably deliberately. The CSA are a RPIA when the ring me trying to trip me up with half-cocked questions.
The CSA is unjust, oppressive and discriminates men. If you tell me otherwise then 2 and 2 is 5, and you have a Ph.D in rendering bovine fecal matter.
  • Ok lets put it another way. If i signed on JSA and I am re-assessed as nil. Would I be on CSA2 if i signed on more than 13 weeks and returned to work?

If you are sacked will you get jobseekers ;) need to think very carefully before you do anything rash.

I have considered all the options. I just dont have the energy to carry on working 70 hours a week for nothing when I get my rent & council tax paid plus JSA of £60 a week in my pocket. I currenty get less than £70 a week and I am living a miserable existence.

I am hit full-whack 40% DEO and its killing me. My employment is going to have to end whichever we look at it. I seriously need a rest and the CSA will not give me one.

    No.

Only way that a NRP can get a case onto CSA2 from CSA1 is if there is another claim by another PWC.

The 13 week rule that you are talking about is for a PWC only.

Plus if you 'get yourself sacked' then the CSA can start proceedings against you if they suspect you have done it to avoid CSA payments, and also the DWP can place a sanction of 26 weeks on any claim for JSA for employmnet dismissal.

What i'm trying to say is that if you deliberately get scaked you may not be entitled to jobseekers, if you do what happens if you get a job within the 13 weeks. I think your fighting a loosing battle whatever you do.

The only thing that will get you on CSA2 is if you get someone else pregnant and they then put a claim into CSA.

    Zara is right.

Also to consider though if there was another claim put in, it wouldn't be a straight swap over. There would be a phasing period of 5 years to move from CSA1 to CSA2. Just in case you had notions of going out and getting someone knocked up!!! (if you have the energy after a 70 hour week!)
  • officially being sacked is what it will be. Nothing deliberate about it. I could claim sickness if i really wanted to.

If I could get CSA2 then I would consider doing part-time work when baby goes to nursery.

Being on CSA1, work doesnt pay because the CSA keeps telling me I am a non dependant and not allowed to pay rent according to a tenancy agreement.

Perish the thought, but your comment really made me chuckle!

Just to clarify, although not strictly relevant, if I had a 2nd CSA case from another PWC, both cases would be CSA2 - right?

  • OK officially, can I not get my CSA1 case moved to CSA2 by sigining on?

    I am afraid not.
