Seriously? I thought it's a shop for chavs that want to buy overpriced clothes with massive labels on. Don't they stock £500 Stone Island jumpers and £300 YSL jeans etc?

Go to Sainsburys or George at ASDA. Jeans for £5, Jumper for £6, shoes for £10, you can kit out your wardrobe for £50 rather than £50k from places like USC.

    Silly shop.

    *EDIT*

Yes, I was right, look at this crap: http://www.usc.co.uk/G-Star%20Buck%20Teddy%20Knit/00116680303800,default,pd.html?cgid=MD

    and £450 for a Diesel coat? http://www.usc.co.uk/Diesel%20Lelxlea%20Leather%20Jacket/00102010303010,default,pd.html?cgid=10000

Now that people have stopped getting silly credit and withdrawing equity from their houses these kinds of shops are bound to close down. The only people that shop there are those that buy on plastic. People with money would never dream of entering a place like that.

Really, funny that, i cant ever remember hearing about any rich footballers wearing cheap tatty clothes from the George range at Asda, or the buy 1 get 3 free deals at Primark;)

Ive shopped in USC a few times, a pair of genuine Diesel jeans will outlast a cheap £5 pair out of Asda 100 times over. Look nicer too, fit nicer, much better label, you wont come across as a cheapskate, you wont look like a cheapskate, you take a little pride in yourself perhaps:confused:

I mean you dont see movie stars and footballers driving ford mondeos? Why not? Cheap, good fuel economy, safe, reliable cars but why do they not spend their 'hard' earned on these bargains? Same with their houses, clothes etc etc

Not just footballers, any successful businessman will have a couple of Armani suits in his wardrobe.......Oops hold on, why? You can get a nice suit down Asda for £30:rolleyes:

Why have a 42'' LCD/Plasma TV when the 20'' old CRT done a better job?

I think it may be about taking pride in your possessions rather than your single minded narrow view;)

I wouldn't hesitate about blowing £500 or so on a clothes shopping trip, i dont and never have had a credit card, the only money i owe is Mortgage, and car finance.

Same goes to all the narrow minded responses that have followed your response in the belief that.....

You wear designer clothes you must be a chav:rotfl:

I think its the same mentality that states all those that smoke are from poor deprived backgrounds and any person that ever enters a football stadium is an underclass/working class mindless buffoon.

Some people need to come down from the clouds they appear to be on and stop being so much up their own ar*es;)

Er, there is a big difference between spending money on good brands, and buying the chavy tat that USC sells. I'm all for branded clothes, I live in ralph laurent, but then I know how to dress my self.
Diesel jeans are overpriced, and tacky. If you want quality and reasonable value, levi's are the ones to buy.
Footballers are nothing to aspire too, they are just working class people that can kick a ball. If they couldn't, most of them would be on the dole.

My parents see labels on the outside of clothes as vulgar. But then I don't think they've ever been to this chain of shops - I hadn't heard of them before this thread.

Its all about the labels we like, and what opinions we have of these labels. I used to buy a lot of Ralph Lauren in my younger years, but to be fair have gone off it now as its hard to tell a real from a fake and as a fashion label they have not really moved on in terms of their styling. I found their jeans to be very poorly fitting, A 32'' waist in 1 pair would fit your waist perfectly, buy another 32'' pair and you would find them to be too small, buy another and find the 32'' is really a 34'', legs come in all different styles aswell and over the years i found their jeans to be just plain and boring. Nothing wrong with Levis i suppose but these are the ''working class'' pair of jeans if you know what i mean. Plenty of fat sweaty plumbers and the like with a pair of Levis;) I still have a couple of pairs from my younger years but only wear them for wear and tear, painting, working on the car etc...As comfort goes, yes have to be in the top.

But then i have a pair of cheap £35 Next jeans that i wear quite often and they are comfy as hell, but with these, ive found buy cheap, buy twice.

    <wince>

more likely, a properly successful businessman will have some nicely-tailored suits rather than nasty Armani carp!

    I don't, really, no.

But my experience is that genuinely wealthy and successful people don't choose their casual and lesiure clothes based on such preconceptions.

My Dad today looked like he'd been dragged through a muddy hedge backwards, he was wearing a jumper that features in a photograph of my 29 year old sister as a baby. And his trousers were covered in mud most of the day, because he'd been planting trees. Bet if I asked him where what he was wearing came from he'd look a mix of bewildered and bored.

How about a nicely tailored Armani suit?? Im sure DB has quite a few and he's been at the height of male fashion for years now;) Yes, a lot of the stuff like his Sarongs i can only wince at.

Armani is at the top of the fashion chain for a good reason, and no, its not the cheap tat he sells down Camden market, he has obviously made a good worldwide empire from his fashion label. Surely everyone that has bought Armani worldwide does not comes under the ''chav'' category;)

    Where to start?....

First, footballers. Generally they come into wealth rather than being born into it. They suddenly earn a huge amount of money, buy awful tasteless things, waste the money, buy things to impress. As they grow up they stop being so silly and hopefully allow the money to be used in more sensible ways. Don't forget that many of these footballers are not very educated and invariably from a lower class level, they see more money than they ever thought they would and BANG, they buy 'tat to impress.

Judging wealth by what young male footballers do is not all that realistic is it?

As for your 42" Plasma, I can't remember the last time I saw someone that was wealthy watching television nevermind watching it on a plasma TV. The first sign of wealth? When you enter someone's house and you can't find the TV. The bigger the TV, the less wealthy the person is.

The same goes for cars. You think rich people go out and spend millions on cars? Some do yes but the majority are not interested in buying to impress. I know many wealthy people that wouldn't know what Hugo Boss is and couldn't care less. One particular person I know has a B+W television, a Skoda (nice it is too) and lives in a small flat in Knightsbridge. He also happens to own a G5 which takes him to wherever he wishes to go (very nice in the summer if you want to pop to St Tropez or even South Africa if you want a longer break).

The rich people I know don't drive around in X5s wearing Rockport or Diesel. Geneuinley, the way to tell if a person is financially insecure (or wants to show off wealth) is to look out for the X5 or the the Grand Sport or the Rockport shoes or the Diesel jeans.

The rich do not show off wealth.

Do I take pride in my appearance? Sure. I don't need to spend £500 on clothes to do so. I am currently wearing a pair of Sainsbury's jeans and a T shirt from, GAP I think it is. Socks from Sainsburys too. I own a Ford Fiesta.

I remember the days when I was young and silly. All my suits from OZB Bespoke, Berluti shoes etc. Then I grew up. Of course one thing I never did was spend £300 on a top from Stone Island or whatever the chavs are wearing nowadays, :)

So the next time you see someone in a Ferrari GTO250, stepping out of it in those Cox shoes, off into that glitzy apartment with it's 60" Plasma, don't strive for it, they're generally not liquid, MEWed most of it or at best are using their bonus shares as an asset base to cover it.

If you want to exude wealth then you don't do it by buying Diesel jeans or copying those footballers you keep harping on about. It's about being understated, the last thing I want to do is turn up at a dinner party with people I know are wealthy wearing a big BOSS badge on the front of my jumper.

Shop in ASDA, buy jeans from Tesco, your clothes and are not you. You do not need fancy pants to impress.

I missed that bit about Armani suits. Honestly, you're right to wince. No one in their right minds wears Armani, as I said earlier, a nice tailored suit, none of this high fashion rubbish. I see these wannabes running around with their Breitling watches thinking they're wearing what the rich do., Breitling? Patek Phillippe might be a better place to start. Of course that's an awful lot of mewing needed for that :)
