CSS, can render terribly if not done right. So, a tip. Download IE, Firefox, Opera, Netscape browsers and view your work in all browsers and ensure your pages look the same in each. People are always moving away from IE and Firefox and Opera are popular alternatives.

Well. there is one thing checking it like that, but if you want to do it properly, multi-platform rendering can be totally different too

so what looks perfect in FireFox on Vista, will look different, and the spacings will be slightly different, in FireFox on Linux etc

hence, nowadays, a Mac the best computer to have, as you can design in your mac, and test it on safari (also for windows) and firefox, and opera, and then use a virtual machine to check on windows, and linux...

a little anal i know, but perfection takes time! :)

If your looking for webhosting, I strongly recommend HourHost.com, ive been with them since 2003 and so far there service has been great. check them out at: https://www.hourhost.com, they are UK based and answer your questions in a very short time. My personal advice is to go with them, as ive had good experience with them, and the support staff is really friendly.

One of the bonus being an HourHost customer is that they have an account manager where they assign a person to me and they guide me on how to set up my website and general help if needed, this service is fantastic and has helped me out alot.

They also offer web design help as well for free, and that is included in every hosting package. It really helped me out on my website.

    All the best

They are very expensive on hosting. Especially when a bronze package (fully featured) costs me £30 / year. The one above for a basic package is £120 / year. Fuzioned http://fuzioned.com/awbs/index.php is based in Scotland and support is fast.

Vermas, don't you think it's a bit of a step to go from "fairly new to all this" to "if i am selling stuff on there can i just use the paypal"

That's a pretty steep learning curve.

Yes i do agree, but id rather spend more money on a quality web hosting provider than a cheaper. As for a cheap hosting provider, the price is related to the service in most cases. And im sick of seeing all these cheap web hosting providers that offer unlimited bandwitch and web space for something ridiculously low price and their customer support aint always the same.

But for https://www.hourhost.com they always respond to my email very fast even though if its 5am in the morning. So id rather pay more for good quality web hosting than a cheap one, just my opinion.

Another benefit is their personal accounts manager, which many other web hosting sites do not include. HourHost's accounts manager helps me out on issues such as web design and website optimisation for free, and that is reflected in the price i guess. But no other hosting providers offer this service.

Ive been a loyal customer to them and they have rewarded me by giving me 20% off for specific months. Plus 10% of their web hosting sales go to charity as well, so i guess they can sustain the price which i think is rather fair on whats on offer.

Don't agree with you. I have all my sites with fuzioned and their service is second to none, they are UK based and a small hosting company (in the big scheme of things). Uptime is almost 100%. I have MySQL databases, PHP, customer error pages, Fantastico (script installer), I can use mod_rewrite and do on my sites etc. Your host is expensive, trust me I have been developing sites over 10 years now and I settled for fusioned about 5 years ago and I have gradually moved everything to them. They do not pack their servers either.

I can get help via their online customer help at most times. The host I use is not "cheap" it charges a fair price for their offering.

Are you associated with HourHost are you????

    whois record says it all

:spam: this host resorts to spamming..

please view all this users other posts

If so, not a good way to build a reputation spamming a very popular forum. If you are associated with this company, then everyone here should disregard your comments as it carries a bias.

Potential :spam: thread members... is this a spammer?? am I wrong?? don't think so

When the whois states that the host URL was registered on 31/12/2008 and you say that you have been hosting sites with them for 5 years then that is a lie in my book and exposes you as having an association to the host. All your posts focus on promoting this, there is no variation and you have largely used cut and paste of forum posts whilst "promoting" this site
  • Sorry about the confusion guys. ive now deleted all the posts and now and will just talk about money saving ideas guys. it was part of the affiliate programme and i dont know how to use it. I signed up to lots of affiliate programs on the internet with different companies and i am having problems promoting them, as im still reading books about promotions. Im new to all this so ill just move on now. and save-a-lot again i really do apologise as im new to these kinds of things.

I dont have any past promostions experience on the internet and i am still learning. Sorry- james
