What a great thread, and just in time as I've been mulling these over for the last few days. My goals for 2009 are:

    1. Lose weight (ideally between 4 and 6 stone:eek:).
    2. Think carefully before spending anything. Save as much as possible.
    3. Make extra money where possible (selling old stuff, cashback, clicks, etc.). Proceeds to be used to pay off debt.
    4. Move into a smaller and cheaper flat in July or August when my current lease ends.
    5. Improve my career prospects through study and other means.

    And most importantly:

    6. Join any MSE forum challenges that tie up with these goals then monitor my progress and stay motivated by becoming more active in the forums in 2009.

So hopefully you'll be hearing more from me very soon!

Def. the right time for me to re-think my goals and aims, things have been sliding for a while :o
    So for 2009:
    • bring my DF date forward -dare I admit to wanting June???
    • Clear the house/loft for when Popeye returns in 2010 with another house load of stuff
    • Get the garden under control without resorting to paid help
    • lose weight and get fitter
    • finish writing a play....
    Now it's written down.........
    1. Clear our debts, for real this time, no messing, no excuses, just do it.
    2. Book our wedding, we we're supposed to do this with my Dad at the end of Jan, but he has the threat of redudancy hanging over his head, so it would be insensitive and selfish to push it. We're probably going to pospone it a year.
    3. Stop smoking. We're going cold turkey Jan 1st. We smoke 25g tobacco a week, so not much really, £5 each.
    4. Lose 18lbs. I've trying, not very hard, to lose this for ages, I did lose 14lbs, then put it back on again.

    - lose weight / do more exercise.
    - earn extra money through selling stuff on-line, doing surveys and volunteering for out of hours helpline at work. I'm doing my first shift on the out of hours help line tonight and haven't had any calls so hopefully will be easy money on a regular basis! ;)
    - enter more competitions (I did really well last year and it would be nice to win a cash prize or hol this year).
    - do another Open University course (and maybe see if I can get my employer to pay towards it again :o).
    - pay some extra money off my student loan (would like to get rid of this as soon as possible!)
    - save money in my ISA on a monthly basis.
    - watch my day to day spending and shop around for the best deals.

    Good luck for 2009 everyone!
2022 wins include.... £1,000 cheque £150 ASDA gift card £250 Impericon gift voucher £100 cheque £100 of plant bulbs £100 Bower Collective voucher
