  • Thank you!

I'm not holding my breath - I'm not the first one going through this in our place and they don't have a great track record. The impression they give is that they'll keep dragging their feet in the hope that you get fed up and leave, thus ridding them of the inconvenience.

Not that I'm a cynic or anything!
  • RIGHT three weeks in now, REALLY please with how things are going, paying off that last of the moneyshop loan tomorrow, yippeeee!!! What a relief.

I can't believe how much my attitude to money has changed since even last month! I've lived off less than a third that I normally do, and I honestly don't feel I've missed out on anything at all! I've caught up with friends, visited my parents (they live 80 miles away and I have to get the train to see them), eaten tasty, healthy food, and bought 2 birthday presents!

I have another 12 days til payday, and normally I would be horrified at the thought that I have £40 to last me til then, but now I know that's PLENTY to live off and it will be no problem at all for me. This is brilliant!

I've already picked what I'm having at the restaurant tonight, so I know how much I'm going to spend (-25% yay!)

I start paying for some dental work next month - but even with that I can still stay on target for my original plan of paying of £450 a month.

    :D:D:D I'M SO GLAD I FOUND THIS FORUM!!:D :D:D

hi, well done on paying off the money shop loan tomorrow, your first major achievement, won't be long before you get to announce the next one. Sorry to read you've been struggling with RSI and Occy health, the later is terrible at my place, they outsourced it and it's a joke now.
    Enjoy your meal out.
  • I'm glad you are getting on so well, gives me many rays of hope!

Boo Hiss to the work thing, but hopefully it'll get sorted, but at least you'll be in a better position if it doesn't.

I have started my DFW campaign today, I was turned down for a balance transfer card, most displeasing!!!!! But hopefully that'll change soon!

One loan down, welldone! Keep it up!
Thanks for reading - The Waltons
  • Brrrrr well I've earned my MS fee for today, had to brave an arctic blizzard to get there!!!

Lemon Tree - Thanks, yes, going to be paying off those cheques today, hurrah! In our place Occy Health are great, it's getting a referral that is the difficult part. Our HR are deplorable!

WaltonVale - Good luck with your DFW journey!! I didn't get a balance transfer card either :( but we'll get there without their help, dammit!!! Will keep an eye out for how you're getting on :)
  • Just got hold of an extra £150 to pay towards to debts and a snazzy new mobile to boot! :j

Got called by P4U and offered a deal £5 cheaper (which will save me £90 over 18 months), checked out the available deals and they have an offer on the Orange website which is another £5 cheaper, but is only available in January as a special offer (P4U are buying off the 4 month remainder of my 02 contract as well) so they've offered to send me £60 cheque on top of the other one.

So in total that's £150, which I will be throwing at the debts, hurrah!!

Also going to be switching to EON so will get £70 quidco, already got £41 so that's another £111 off...

Made £54 from mystery shopping this month...

On track to make £40-50 from Ebay this weekend...

Soooo that's about £350 off the debtaroonies from being a bit cheeky and the odd bit of spying...feeling very pleased with myself, tee hee!!

My Mazuma mobile cheque for £8 came today but I'm going to WALK to the bank (no bus fare...more exercise!) after Neighbours and leave that in the bank until the end of the month just in case I need any extra...got about £20 other than this to last me, which should be enough provided I don't go crazy!!

I also resisted the urge to go to Tesco with my Visa card yesterday and buy naughty treats he he.
  • Oooh nearly at the end of my first month!! Payday on Friday hurrah!

Well it's been pretty successful so far - Moneyshop paid off, made some money from ebay/mystery shopping, a little bit closer to being debt free!!

Really struggling with the lodgers (well, one of them, the other one's ok) at the moment, I'm having to put a written warning to the naughty one at the moment. I know noone's perfect and living with people is always challenging, but I'm really struggling with this guy.

There are dishes in my kitchen that have been sat there dirty for TWO WEEKS, including some of my stuff that he's used.

He hasn't bought ANY milk since I stopped storing mine in the fridge, yet when I accidentally forgot to put a more than half-full carton in the secret fridge yesterday, I came back to find a tiny drop left in it (barely enough for one cup of tea). It just makes me SO mad because he's either an absolute moron or a complete bumhole, because he KNOWS it's not his, and also knows he's not leaving me with enough to do anything with, plus he's willing to go without for nearly a MONTH when he would have to buy it!!! Soooo frustrating. I guess I will just have to be more careful about returning items to the secret ice cave from now on! I can't have any more conversations with him about it because it has no effect and my head may actually explode mid-sentence.

Plus, I have asked him SIX TIMES now to stop leaving my bathroom floor wet as he does it after every shower and it's damaging my laminate (the edges are swelling and curling up). The guy literally must just walk out soaking and stroll around the bathroom soaking the floor. Yet despite me repeatedly asking him, and explaning why I'm asking, he keeps doing it!!! So now I have to put in writing that I have asked him to stop doing it and that he has been made aware of the risk of damage to the bathroom floor and that he may be liable for the cost of replacing the floor if he continues. I hate having to do stuff like this, but I guess it's part of being a landlord - I'd rather p*ss him off and not have my floor wrecked (or be in a better position to use his deposit to replace the flooring).

On top of this, he's used the last of the posh showergel I got for xmas (other lodger on his hols so could only be him), my mouthwash, my teabags, etc etc etc the list goes on. Taking liberties is not in it!

And the rota this month has been COMPLETELY ignored so I'm having to do all the cleaning despite the fact I have a bad arm and it hurts to do housework!!!

Housemate in question is having a party this weekend in the house, has invited 40+ ppl (I'm hoping they wont all come as there's no way they'll fit in my house!) and his mates are total idiots. I'm clearing out for the night as I'll only get wound up, but am laying down the law before I go (and giving my phone no to next door in case there's any trouble) that there is to be no messing about and the house is to be spotless by 6pm the following night, as I've got some friends coming round.

It sounds awful but I'm kinda hoping he gives me an excuse to kick his sorry behind out.

Wow what a lot of whinging I've done this afternoon!! Just gets soooo frustrating, as I know if I didn't have any debt I could happily afford the place to myself. It is giving me a hell of a lot of motivation to pay stuff off asap though!!!!!
  • Grrr I am so annoyed with myself!! (And O2 a little bit...but mainly me!)

I have had my contract for over a year and have NEVER gone over my minutes, without trying, as my usage was spot on for the contract. Just got my bill for December-January and I have gone over by 200 mins! Costing me a further £45!!! Ouch!!!

Phoned up irate only to find out it is in fact correct - just made more phonecalls than normal. Can't believe I've done that!

Plan of action - get more stuff on ebay, take on more mystery shops (signed up for 2 so far today) and offset it. And be very pleased that I am no longer with o2!!!!

Also having more fun with stinky lodgers...apparently lodger2 did not appreciate being asked to wash up the over two week old dishes and so slammed angrily around my house last night. Felt really uncomfortable and hid in my room from about 7pm :( not ideal. I hate to do this kind of stuff, but I think he's going to have to go. I can't put up with someone making me feel bad for asking him to do something that should go without saying!

Although he has educated me. Before he moved in, I was not aware of what yoghurt smells like after being left out in a warm kitchen for two weeks. Now I know.

Needless to say, the bathroom floor was wet AGAIN this morning!

Will be researching into prospective replacement lodgers today I think - I may end up missing out on a month's rent because it would be very difficult to show potential lodgers the room in the state he keeps it in. I'm also gonna need to repaint the walls as he's covered them in posters :(

essexgal wanders over from Badgerlady's thread to have a nosy........

All I can say is you're far far more tolerant than I am - and NO WAY would he be having a party in MY house - as I can only imagine that his friends are probably as disrespectful as he is.

Seriously HOOS - I know you want to be debt-free as soon as possible but is it really worth putting up with this - I think I'd rather take a bit longer to pay my debts off and not have the hassle. Can only imagine he doesn't live at home 'cos his parents won't put up with it - so why should you....

Sorry, am now cross on your behalf - why should you have to put up with this moron.....
