Hmmm agreed, that food bill is quite high. Have you been living on lobster?!
Time to visit the supermarket at 7ish to catch the bargains and start cooking from scratch. You need to cut at least £100 of the grocery bill.
Can't tell you off for the eating out bill though... I've just ordered in pizza for £35 :eek:Jan - PAD £199.79

hi and welcome to the boards, well done for checking your statement to see where its all going it's scary when you do that isn't it?
good luck with your plans, i'll try and pop by to see how you're doing0 -
Thanks, yes it is scary, and embarrassing!!
Bob, no lobster but I think I must have been either very extravagant or very disorganised!!
I aim to cut my monthly food bill to at least £100, and see how low I can get it while still eating a healthy balanced diet. Will be posting up my food bill at the end of this month!0 -
How's it going so far then? Are you ready to face the challenge of 2009. Reducing the spending but still having a life?Jan - PAD £199.79

Well thanks for asking Bob, I must say it's going rather splendiferously so far!!
Just got all my nonperishables inc. laundry, washing up liquid, tins, noodles etc for the month, plus a weeks fruit and veg for under £21, hurrah! Was aiming for £30 max so v chuffed with myself! Also done a freezer and cupboard audit today & put lists up so I can see what I've got in. I should be able to survive a 3 month supermarket strike on what's in my cupboard!
Had 2 NSDs and today I only did planned spending.
Made a big batch of chilli and froze 4 portions of it.
Must say I'm quite pleased with myself and am enjoying it so far!!
AND I've already paid £300 off my money shop loan, may be able to pay that all off in full this month!! Woop woop woop!! :j :beer:0 -
Right...I've applied for a Virgin card...if I can get it & shift some of the monument card over to it, that'll save me some interest for a few months while I pay the rest off...bit nervous though, I haven't applied for anything since I applied for a graduate loan over a year ago.
I'm hoping that this time I will be more likely to get approved, as I've been in my job over a year now, my salary has just gone over 25k and I've been much better behaved with my finances this year. Still nervous though!
I did that "Find a Lender" thing and it suggested Virgin, so I tried it. My boyfriend said he got turned down for Virgin though, so I'm not sure.
Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained. If I don't get accepted I will just carry on as planned. Wont try any others (for a few months at least) as applying for credit really freaks me out (makes me wonder how I managed to get into debt in the first place!)
Will find out in 7-10 days...here goes nothing...:undecided0 -
Another NSD today
Have gone away for the night with the boyfriend - £10 a night De Vere deal, yay! (I wont be paying til checkout so it still counts as an NSD he he)0 -
Refused for Virgin Card
BUT onwards and upwards, I'm still on target to lose my debts in just under 18 months and I WILL do it, and then I wont need the stupid card anyway!!!

Wow, you are so motivated. I started my own debt free diary last night, I am going to be throwing every penny at my debts.
I will be reading your diary to keep me motivated.
Good luck.
P.s - I was told by a friend who works for Virgin credit card that they have upped their internal credit score, over 40% of applications are being turned down .
I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!0
