Boom-time on benefits: The 140,000 families who claim £20,000 a year in handouts

Here's one family who get millions every year, it's a disgrace!! Some of them are foreigners, and live in palaces!!!
2006. "The total cost of keeping the monarchy in the last financial year rose by 4.2 per cent to £37.4 million, royal accountants said"
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/royal-family-cost-62p-per-person-405824.html
But I like them. I am happy to pay 62p a year for them. To be honest Britain has lost much of its ID over recent years and tradition has vanished. We are at a point where to put up the Union jack or the ST George's cross is considered raciest. Perhaps some of broken Britain would be healed but solidarity of society which is only obtained by a common goal and working TOGETHER. To me the Royals are one of the very few things left that symbolize the British tradition and a shared belief, something we should celebrate, something that is ours, something that is a common bond amount the British people.
If only we had more reasons to celebrate and more occasions to bring people together maybe our society would be less isolated from one another with a greater understanding of each other.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

No it isn't, it's just spun that way by the Daily Mail et all to try and whip up some chest beating frenzy in middle England and sell more papers.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. What I'm not happy about is supporting a comfortable life for a middle aged mum who's had a couple of sprogs and is making a very comfortable life for herself with no compuncture whatsoever to actually bother getting a job and earning her living.
One thing that's become apparent to me is the number of BTL LL's on here who dislike supporting people on benefits, but are presumably happy to take in thousands in HB from the same taxpayers that pay Income Support/JSA.

I don't. I resent every penny of mine that goes to support the lazy whining leeches in a luxurious lifestyle they have done nothing to earn. In fact I want my 62p back, RIGHT NOW. Are you listening Charlie boy, eh Mr Big Ears?0 -

I don't find the Union Jack very racy. Maybe a Betty Boop flag.
BTW, **** the Royals and all they stand for.
(Or lounge around for, eating bonbons and throwing shoes at inferior minions. Eh, Charleyboy?) Bloody Krauts anyway. Go home to Germany: blimmin workshy benefit-scrounging immigrants.0 -

and i want my moneyback from all the taxes that i paid + interest that have gone to benefit scroungers over the years. alot more than 62p that, and the interest was higher:D0 -

Very true, I was at the Royal Oldham hospital last week. Oldham, where a much higher than average proportion of the population are foreign born, scene of race riots in 2001 (I think it's about 70% white in Oldham); yet they still fly the union flag outside the hospital. My local town centre has a Union Flag and St George's Cross flying, again despite high immigrant populations/ethnic minority populations.
I really gets to me when the media exaggerate these stupid ideas, when all you have to do is look up next time you're in a town centre to see it's simply untrue.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

So like for like, that's £16,160 income TAX FREE!
i know people who earn less than that and are taxed on it. And they still have to pay for "shelter".
Exactly.
If I 'left' my husband tomorrow, thus finding myself homeless with 3 kids and minimal earnings, I would be given, courtesy of the tax payer:
- a 3 bed flat or house, rent free
- council tax, free
- an income on top of that, without needing to trouble myself to work as a have children under - what's the current age - 11?
Plus free prescriptions etc.0 -

Wouldn`t you have to endure living in a B&B before they found you somewhere?0 -
