My current income (falling by the month) is equal to £50/month more than a single person on JSA with LHA/rent paid and CT.

Better spend less time on here and more on your website then PN ;)

    I already agree with you.

I have already argued time and time again that it's far better for society and cheaper in the long term to give people proper help to make them independent rather than leave them languishing on benefits for years.

But treliacs whole post was about setting them up to make them independent.

You miss out other things people have to pay for if they are working - free presciptions and eye tests, school meals, etc.
Yes, I didn't put a lot of effort into my comparison. To me the figure sounded low, but then I am lucky enough to be earning rather more than that. Another subject I need to shut up about, as I don't know the reality of it.

there should be no benefit of any kind. people should earn their own living . if they cannot afford the lifestyle, then tough luck

Well pet, come back in 30 years time after you've had some of the garbage things life throws at you, and see what you say then eh ?
It took social campaigners/unions/humanitarians AND Charles Dickens hundreds of years to improve things & make life better, and now somebody is shouting to go back how it was. There's always one eh !!

so if life throws garbage at u then why should the taxpayer compensate???

and look where it has got us. whole threads dedicated to it. where most people do not want to 'donate their money' willingly for the people whom life throws garbage at.
the point is that the whole system is flawed. very few peolple actually want to compensate for others. charitable organisations should take over the management of benefits and people should voluntarily donate for this cause, not taxpayers money

You're right. I don't want to pay tax at all. Especially for stuff I don't agree with. Why should you get your rubbish collected? I don't give a stuff about you. Why should I pay so the armed services can protect you? I don't care about you? Why should I contribute towards your police force? Screw that.

You selfish people have really thought this through. Clearly the tax money I gave to provide an education for you was just a complete waste. Actually - I don't want to pay tax to educate morons - let me have a choice who I support.

I thought I'd do a minimal research on these amazing benefits. After all - why am I bothering to work?

So Express headline screams out £30,000 a year paid in benefits.

    http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/77542/Thousands-of-unemployed-get-%A330,000-a-year/

    A closer look.

A family of two healthy non-working adults and two healthy children paying rent of £100 a week and a monthly council tax bill of £108 could collect more than £16,100 a year in benefits.

That sum is made up of more than £4,700 in tax credits, £4,950 in Jobseeker’s Allowance, housing benefit of £5,214 and council tax benefit of £1,296.

So lets take rent and council tax off - after all even the unemployed have a right to shelter don't they? That actually leaves £9,650 for two adults and two kids to live on. £185 per week. £26.50 a day.

I think I'll carry on working for now. But maybe some of you lot complaining fancy swapping - after all it's easy money for doing nothing. Just think what you could do with £26.50 a day.

Why are you removing the cost of "shelter"? Yes everyone has a right to it, but it's still a cost that someone with a job has to bear.

So like for like, that's £16,160 income TAX FREE!

i know people who earn less than that and are taxed on it. And they still have to pay for "shelter".

I'm more than happy to "donate my money" to "people to whom life has thrown garbage".

What I'm not happy about is supporting a comfortable life for a middle aged mum who's had a couple of sprogs and is making a very comfortable life for herself with no compuncture whatsoever to actually bother getting a job and earning her living.

u are going off the thread.
i and a lot of taxpayers i am sure do not mind paying taxes for the defence of the country, education, elderly care, nhs, rubbish collection, police etc what i dont want is to pay for the benefit claimant who cannot be bothered to seek an education or a job to earn a decent living and self respect foor himself and for his/ her children in society.
