Greenbee - I rarely use my MW but the kids do. It has a grill function and I've discovered that putting the grill on is a fantastic of burning off the grease and muck! :rotfl:
Oooh, I'm getting organised with my finances. I found, last year, with my signature stats (which will be zeroed tomorrow ready for 2009) that it was difficult keeping track of what went into the savings account from ebay, bogofs etc. and other money that I put in there.
So, I've just phoned my bank (I think they were pleased for the call - I got through straight away to a nice young englishman called Andrew - he said they were very quiet!) and now have four savings accounts which he's nicely renamed for me so they are unique. I can access them all online and via the internet and do instant transfers etc. Interest rate is pants (probably costs them more to administer than pay out!) but the main thing is, I have different pots.
One pot (the original one which gives a slightly better rate of interest) will be for general savings, one will be for gas and elec. I added up the last 15 months of bills this evening and it comes out at £30.00 per week for the two  But, the gas is less per month than BG wanted to take of me on their budget plan so I'd rather put it away monthly myself than have them earn interest on it.
Another pot will be for the ebay/bogofs etc.
The fourth pot - I shall think of something - perhaps mortgage overpayment fund? We shall see...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Evening all
Had a brilliant time ice skating and then walked around Kew Gardens, went in some of the glass houses, did the tree top walk and then walked down the the pergoda. DS3 had not ice skated before and tried really hard despite not feeling well. Poor thing has a temp and sore throat now so is ping ponging between crying and being vile.
Absolutely zero flying done, house is indescribeable now!
Vali - glad your DS is revising, mine has done a little bit - which science course is he doing do you know?
Decs I put mine up late as I'm supersticioius (sp) about taking them down early - I do it gradually - starting this weekend coming but make sure I still have some up until twelth night
Facebook - I've had some friend requests but don't know who from. Sorry but I only confirm once I know who people are so if you are DMcC can you let me know who you are - thanks
Pigpen - I'm pleased that your little cousin arrived safe and sound
Toochoosey so sorry to hear of your friend's Dad
Just going to try to put ice skating pics on facebook - not done that before.
Hope to get a bit of flying done tomorrow as we have friends coming in the evening but it'll depend on how DS3 is.
DH has got to go to the states for work in January for 2 weeks - the 2 weeks when DS1 is taking GCSEs and I'm invigilating most days -I will either be supremely calm and organised or more like a screaming banshee. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
toochoosey wrote: »thanks for the lists pigpen but don't think much will be done 2morrow, it's DD's day and we are having a party, don't much feel like it at the mo but she is only 6 and it has to be done. Does anyone fancy blowing up a pile of balloons, wrapping a couple of presents and getting a scooter out of a box constructed to outdo houdini(sp?) cause i don't(but have to!!)
As for the scooter I would leave it to LO - she will proabably be faster than half a dozen adults!!!!
these things needs degrees in engineering and physics to put together - or the mind of a child!!!!

Diary / birthdays done. I'm doing the financial diary on word so it's easier to access as i'm on here so much at the moment.
DH finished our ironing this afternoon. The place is a tip but it's a clean tip:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . I'm going to ask everyone to declutter tomorrow as we're having people here on New Year's Day. I won't do any of it so no need to shout at me.
I was quite sad when they all went off to the panto but i've made myself get a bit more sorted so pulled myself out of the self pity.
Toochoosey - I hope you're ok. Hugs xx0 -
feeling OK now, just thinking ahead, don't know what to say when seeing the loved ones afer a loss, but I'm thinking a hug will say pretty much what needs to be said(if I start talking, I think they will start, then I feel guity!!), so a hug is best!!?0

sounds like a plan, was thinking of opening it and setting it up, then hiding it in the dining room and sending her in there for something after she had opened little pressies, but I think it only says BRATZ on the box(rather than a picture of a scooter), so she will enjoy opening it and guessing what it is, thanks toots0 -

Tooch - maybe if you visit them at home, take them a pot of homemade soup or something as well. The last thing they'll be thinking about is eating, but if you turn up with something light but hearty that only needs quickly reheating it may tempt them. And do talk to them. If they cry, then don't feel guilty - they need to.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Yay - all the ironing that was on the chair downstairs is done :j
I have ironed about 35 things in the last 3 days. I'm beginning to realise that the reason I always have an ironing pile is cos not everything fits in the wardrobe / drawers
Anyway, will catch up with the thread now and post an updated list ......."There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers
