Hi I'm new to this and work full time but would love to be more organised around the house. I will start properly next week.

Can I ask how long roughly would you say each days task takes?
Do you set aside an hour or more.

Welcome Kings - they can take as long or as short as you want - depending how thorooughly you do them! and don't think you need to do level 3 every day - you'd be exhausted if you did!

Toots, our honorary meeter and greeter will doubtless be along later to officially welcome you!

    Yay, doing well today!
Also, kitchen S&S.....need to wash breakfast pots which I shall do in a moment.
I have one laundry load to do. My last airer gave up the ghost yesterday sadly. It's legs just gave up on it. I need one ASAP, now. I don't want to resort to the dryer.
A little laundry to transport upstairs.
I have our bedroom which is my main goal today. It's a bombsite! Everything else is just a quick tidy round and a dust!
Also need to get dressed. I got bought this biiiig fluffy dressing gown from my mum this christmas, and it's so warm and comfy I want to stay in it all day :rotfl: But, my CPN is paying a visit today, and I don't want to look like I just got out of bed.
I love this thread. Previous to joining here, I felt so overwhelmed with it all. Even deciding what to do for tea gave me a panic attack, much less deciding what job to do next. Now, I don't have to think about it :T

Start small, otherwise it's too overwhelming! what I've found helps is to every now and then grab a carrier bag, then dash around for five minutes, just throwing stuff that is rubbish (junk mail, sweetie wrappers etc)
When you've finished (or half finished) a task, reward yourself. Cup of tea/coffee, update on here, and then you feel ready to finish the job, or tackle a new one.
If you're waiting for the kettle to boil, don't waste that time - wipe a cupboard door down.
When you go upstairs, take something up that needs to be up there. Little things like this make a big difference :)

    OK, I finally caught up!

    So far today I have:
    • SS's bathroom, shower room and started on the kitchen.
    • Breadmaker almost finished,
    • coffee pot ready to go, washing maching 2nd load just finished,
    • tumble dryer almost ready for 2nd load,
    • sewn two buttons back where they belong
    I still need to:
    • call the garage to arrange my MOT
    • call catalogue to arrange an extended warranty for DD
    • have a tidy in the lounge (rest of house not looking too bad, thank you, Pigpen! :T)
    • go to chemist to check DD's pre4scription as she has stuff for Athlete's foot instead of thrush!:confused::eek:
    • post package for Summermoon
    • take DD to Nailsea
    • Go out for dinner with OH and DS to friends house. :T I'm taking the puddings. Any suggestions, although I'm probably going to buy as still feeling a little fragile.

Why can't I find any elastic bands? I them to descale the bathroom taps...

????? I use toothbrushes. Would you please enlighten me?

Summermoon - sorry about the pup damage. He was possibly just bored. Mine are crate trained, which is something I never thought I would do. When we first got Jasper at 10 weeks (now 13 years), I was told he was used to a crate and I should use one. I knew better - not!:o He damaged my new stair carpet, so I went out and got the biggest crate I could find (he's a Collie/Saluki) and we never looked back. None of the dogs use it when we're home, even at night now, but we always put Star (2 years) in when we are away from home as she's a Chocaholic and I believe she would climb to get it if she could. She also still chews a bit. It would be worth trying Freecycle to see if anyone has one to spare. Also, you can buy balls, Kongs etc that you can put some of their food in (instead of dish, not as well as, or you'll get a fat puppy), they have to play with the toy to get the food, so they don't get bored.

Nikki - get your DLA form done asap, but don't forget to get help on completing it as they will find a way to knock you back if they can!

Johanne - hope you're feeling better.

    Lil_me
    - have you looked on Dogpages forums for rehoming? And fostering is easy - you just get fed up of mopping the floor and think "they'll be gone soon!":rotfl:

Vanilla - might be telling you what you know, but when we had a new kitchen in our old house (can't remember where from), we found a local carpenter to do all the fitting and it came in around £2k cheaper than where the kitchen came from!

LL - sorry the black tea was a bit late (not stewed tho coz I didn't make it straight away). The fridge man came to fix the clicking door on the new replacement fridge that came on Christmas Eve. I refused to try and sort it myself as we've had 9 months of problems with the last one.
