Have just woke up and about to make a cuppa.,
Soappie Hope your boiler problem gets fixed.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL! WISHING YOU ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2009.0 -
Sausages eaten - DS ate everyone of them without a murmer of complaint so they must have been alright (such a fussy eater he is!). I ate mine too and enjoyed them
I have mopped dry the utility room floor and am keeping an eye out for any more evidence of leaks - there is some tiny little bits of water appearing but that may be just residue.
I ran a hot water tap for about five minutes then switched the hot water button on at the central heating controls and am now getting some very hot water through but the tank still sounds hollow when I tap it..
There are some potential problems and solutions listed below:
a) the extremely cold weather today froze something somewhere which caused a back log of pressure which squeezed a joint somewhere which caused it to leak a little and has now defrosted so the pressure is less and the leak has gone
b) someone knocked over the dog's drinking water bowl which will explain the water on the floor - no-one (and I've asked!) has admitted to that.
c) The water on the floor is a red herring. The hot water tank is not filling up because the header tank (which is in the loft in upstairs's flat) itself is not filling because some grot or something is interfering with the stop !!!! (seems one cannot post the word that comes after stop that begins with c and end in k and has an oc in the middle!) (this has happened before)
Whatever - as long as I have hot water tonight to wash up with - I'll be Ok. Tomorrow is another day and a new year!
And yes, Lil-me, I do have a breakdown policy - with BG!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Pigpen, thanks for the new challenge, will have great fun writing mine and thankyou for sharing.

Ragz - I'm just about to open a bottle of champers - I don't think I'll need a glass - even a big one - I might even dispense with a straw! :rotfl::rotfl:I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Best happenings..
- Getting the caravan, one of the best decisions we've ever made
- Making sure no matter how busy I am making time for all you guys on here, because you mean a lot to me and my life isn't the same without my flylady friends x I can't thank you all enough for your ever lasting support and encouragement.
- The progress my children have made at school, especially socially, I nearly cried when DS1 said he had a friend, then a girlfriend, well I was lost for words!
- Matthew, just the fact he's survived and the progress he's made, seeing him walk made me cry! Being there for his last scan, him getting the all clear basically with a review requested in a year, amazing what hospitals can do and what a little fighter he is.
- My DP who can be difficult, finally getting a grip on some things, being a bit more helpful and FINALLY making an effort in dealing with his overspending and debts!!!!
That a complete stranger (well that's what others would class someone you had never met, but to me she's my friend) would go to a lot of effort to help me make sure my sons got what they wanted for Christmas, thank you soappie x
Remarkable thing that changed me
Meeting the people I have this year through voluntary work, some truly inspirational people. Sharing joy, pleasure, smiles, fear, tears and grief with them. A very inspirational and emotional experience that will stay with me forever. The fight for these children and their families will continue because of them inspiring me and in the memory of the children who lost the lives I had the honour of being part of x Andrew, Sarah, Ethan, Daniel, Michael and Charlie you'll never be forgotten xxx
Really hard going down to 5 best bits, I think those cover most of it. I've not made big resolutions really, more made note of what I want to change and how I will do so (well how I plan to try to do so)One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
something is interfering with the stop !!!! (seems one cannot post the word that comes after stop that begins with c and end in k and has an oc in the middle!)
You can if you write it as one word rather than two (I just checked my previous post)... so for those who can't work the cryptic clue, she wants to say stopcock, but I think she actually means the ball valve!
... just keep an eye on things... you don't want to find you're flooded during the night, but the problem with the header tank sounds familiarthen again, I came home from holiday once, switch the hot water on, and the tank decided to split - I noticed because water started running down the walls in the kitchen & hall!

Darn it, and I have some bubbly in the loft:rolleyes:
Bit late now, don't expect OH would appreciate me sending him up there!
Regarding dailies, I have tried to write a list in the past but never seems to work, do you guys have set things you do each day? Does anyone have a sample one I could steal?
I like lists and targets, I've loved doing Pigpen's but there are things like washing up, laundry and vacuuming living room, not to mention making OH's packed lunch, that I need to do every day.
Oh look at that, I pretty much made my own list then!
Feel so boring, it's nearly midnight and I'm on here, haven't had a New Years off since OH and I got together and we had babies (I knew I was in the mood for blaming OH for something!), this will only be the 4th New years I haven't been out though and my Mum managed without a single night off for over 10 years so shouldn't feel too bad. Feel too ill and tired for partying drunkenly anyway.

toottifrootti wrote: »A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day,
drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As
they talked about life, about marriage, about the
responsibilities of life and the obligations of
adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her
glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance
upon her daughter
'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling
the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll
be more important as you get older. No matter how
much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going
to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now
and then; do things with them.'
'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women...
your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other
women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women
always do.'
What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman
thought. Haven't I just gotten married?
Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a
married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I
need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact
with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another,
she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman,
Sisters are the mainstays of her life.
After more than 50 years of living in this world,
here is what I've learned:
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors. Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are
between you. A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,
daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on
to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did.
toots xx
That's so nice I cried...
Did you write it or can I put it on my facebook?
I have a random friend I met recently who'd love that!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500
