Sainsburys sell it ..Our local branch have it next to all the Other rice, on the bottom shelf ,blue bag ,500g ....We use it like normal rice for all our meals ...
Thank you. I don't know where our local Sainsbury is. If there are other South Yorkshire users who get their pudding rice from one of the supermarkets, please let me know. I don't mind a bit of a drive. But we only have Tesco, Asda, Morrison's and Netto nearby ...spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Hi Spendaholic
I live in Doncaster and shop at the Edenthorpe branch of Tesco. I bought some pudding rice from there not that long ago. There is also a Sainsburys about half a mile further down the same road.0 -

Thank you. I live in Barnsley but am from Birmingham originally, so don't know where everywhere is yet. I work in Rotherham and I know 1 pub in Doncaster and 1 pub in Cusworth, plus the mainline rail station in Donny. I'll look out Edenthorpe as I have to make a Donny trek yet - I understand it's great for shopping anyway.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
there is a Tesco near the railway station, it's opposite the Minster, you could try there. But, to say it's in town I don't think it's a very good store, they don't seem to carry a full range of products.0

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post. Yesterday I went to the 3rd Tesco in my district, which also happens to be the longest-opened one, and I found my pudding rice there, right among the puddings. :T Of course, once I'd found it I was spoiled for choice - flaked rice, ground rice, straight pudding rice ... I went for the straight and later today I'm going to try that low fat home made rice pudding recipe I have. I used to hate it when my grandma used to make it, but my outlook is slightly different now.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0

I was going to make some on Friday with the leftover cream I've got, but we were too full. (I've got a 20 minute recipe, rather than having to cook it in the oven for hours!)
Oooh, do share. We love rice pudding, but the cooking time prohibits us from having it often (probably a good thing), as I tend not to give pudding much thought till dinner's finished.
OP, we love all rice puddings, ground, flaked and regular pudding, sometimes i ADD SOME FRUIT TO IT, oops, sorry, sometimes some gorgeous jam. Often, just on it's own, gorgeous, scrummy comfort food.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Excellent thread, thanks all - from straight rice pudding to origami, I love it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Mmm I love rice pud, I like to put sultana's in mine plus grated nutmeg on the top. I usuually make it with eveporated milk as it gives it a creamy taste without the cost of fresh cream. I have made it in my SC before now , put it on overnight as it keeps the kitchen a bit warmer. Trouble is I like it too much, and as I live alone I could easily eat too much of it .I also love ground rice, and semolina puds as well. Shows I grew up in the 1940s-50s as Mums always made puds that filled you up when rationing was on.
My grandchildren seem not to know what home cooked puds are like as they usually have yogurts or ice-cream for pudding. I like my home made Birds custard as well. As its freezing here I might put one on tonight .0 -
ooooh Rice pudding!!!I tried and failed many times to make this in the oven and on the hob until i tried my slow cooker. Now we have rice pudding with coconut milk, chocolate rice pudding with cinnamon, rice pudding with blitzed up soaked dried fruit (little one loves this and i add NO sugar to hers as the fruit is sweet enough. On that note I don't add any sugar until the end of cooking and then i add it to taste so hardly any...and brown sugar on top is divine!ooooooh rice pudding!!!0

When looking for golden syrup in my local Tesco (but unable to find it) I asked at customer services and the computer was able to say exactly where it was in the store.
I was not being daft but being told it was in with jams and spreads while it nw lives in baking. It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.
