I remember being in Halfords browsing but listening in on a particularly greasy satnav company rep who said to the sales team that they would get free gifts from them for each sale of their product.
Impartiality. Window.
Currys even had a sign saying 'since our advisors aren't on commission, you get impartial advice!'. Nope - they're under as much pressure to sell, particularly to sell certain products.
The fundamental difference between shopping a supermarket or a toy store and shopping in an electrical retail goods is where the profit is. If you buy one of those Star Wars plastic walkers from Argos, for example, the company's laughing. Because even reduced from £100 to £80, it's still a hell of a lot of money for a lump of plastic. Electrical goods, on the other hand, often don't have as much profit. Which is why sales people are pushed to shove other things in with the deal.0
