You bid - you pay.
Whether it is a mistake or not is besides the point.
Granted the worse that will happen is a strike.
Sellers cannot even leave a negative anymore.
Your quite right in what you say but why force someone to pay who doesn't want the item?
They op has already said they will reimbursed any fees which seems fair enough to me.
If the seller is not careful and ends up getting aggressive he could end up with a neg for his troubles.
Not fair I know but if I was him id take the offer of the fees and get it re-listed asap so someone who really wants it can buy it rather then faffing around in a dispute for a week.0 -
So the seller will get a neg for asking someone who bid on an item to pay?
I USED to sell on ebay and have heard all the excuses from non-payers.
Buyers remorse. They get all excited, bid on your item, win it, and then decide they can find it cheaper elsewhere.
Granted the OP is going to pay the sellers fees... (I have heard that one before).
Then the seller has to faff about and wait for another auction to end, usually getting less for the item because all the other bidders has found something else.0 -

Quite possible in this day and age im afraid to say thlough isn't it when you think about it.0 -
pay up, then relist the item0

Having had two sellers recently who refused to sell as they didnt reach the price they wanted(no reserves either) I would take the non paying buyer strike, and offer fees.
However I dont sell so I can see it from the sellers side, and it must be infuriating, but there are bad seller as well as bad buyers and when doing either you just have to hope that courtesy will be observed.
You made a mistake and have offered to recompense the seller for that, I wouldnt pay

I always issue npb with strikes but I've never been in a situation where a non paying buyer has offered to pay the fees.
However on several occassions my strikes have led to a prompt payment, if I still have the item I send it to them, if not I refund them.
Really it is down to the seller how they want to go about it but if you offer to pay their listing fee and fvf they could simply relist it.0 -

Plus I would offer the difference btween the winning bid and the SCO amount.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi,
Thanks for all the replies, I have sent the seller another email, suggesting a second chance bid, the difference between the previous bid and my bid was only £1, but I have offerd to pay the difference, I am also still willing to pay the relisting fees if that is what the seller wants, but I have not had any replies as yet, I cannot do anything if the seller will not communicate.

When I was a powerseller selling more expensive items, I occassionally had the odd buyer accidently buy the wrong item, or something that didn't do quite what he/she thought it would. All fair enough, all I asked was they pay the listing fee, which they were happy to do so. Anyone who takes someone to court because they didn't carry on purchasing a £0.57 pair of old socks is a tw*t.
Happy new year.0
