First shops of January budget, totalling £35.77 (divided between Lidl, Tesco and Coop), and sig. updated. Might need milk again before next bigger shop (although will just get a 1L carton to do the day or so, and get a bigger 2L at next big shop).
Hope everyone is feeling inspired for the new year.

Hiya...another £13.48 to add today. Popped into MrA after checking out the £1 offers that they have done since the announcement yesterday.... Unfortunately half of them (mainly the toiletries) aren't showing up on the shelf and I didn't feel like a battle with Customer Services when they didn't show up on the receipt so I didn't bother!

    However, I did get...

    2 x Pack of 6 Fruit Corners £1.50 down from £2.98
2 x loyd Grossman Korma sauces £1 each
    2 x Comfort fabric conditioner £1 each

    plus some basics...

Also managed to pick up 5 Christmas pressies for next year for a grand total of £9 and a 15m roll of wrapping paper for 40p!

I haven't included that in my grocery budget though as I've a separate pot for that!

When MrA finally sort out their instore pricing I shall be stocking up on...
    150ml Sure Deodorant £1
    400ml Timotei shampoo & conditioner £1 each

I intend to get enough to last us the year as it's so much cheaper than it'd normally be!

Evening all! I seem to have spent a lot this week considering I haven't had to buy any meat at all, and won't have to for the rest of the month cos my freezer is bulging. However, I have started me and DH back on Slimming World eating plan, so I've had to stock up with low fat ingredients. I've also included paying for us to go to the Cinema Wed. Night, and a bit of lunch out while we were in town today. I've listed it under 'Leisure'. so I can keep it separate.
    Feb. G.C. From Jan 26th £350.00
    First month..pure guess!! Wk. 1 £136.38 balance £213.62. Wk.2 £108.10p balance £105.52

    Happy New Year everyone.

sexki11en could have the recipe for HM creamy turkey, leek & potato soup please.

Turbo - It wasn't a recipe as such, I just threw a load of things in. The turkey stock was a really good one, with lots of meat in it so I whizzed that up. Then I added a generous dollop of double cream, finely diced a couple of potatoes, a handful of leeks and some dried thyme. Let it all cook in for about half an hour, lots of salt & pepper to taste then chucked it all in the blender.

OH said it was the best soup he's ever tasted! :j

Sorry it's not more accurate but I rarely measure things, just throw them in and taste as I go.

For the next batch, am going to try chucking in some curry powder and see how that tastes.

Yum to the curry powder bit. Have you tried 1/2 parsnip. 1/2 potato. Water, milk, seasoning and curry powder? All to taste of course.
I don't get to come on here too often.
    Too buzy money saving!

This is my first go at this challenge. Can I ask, do you include eating out in your budget? We went to the sales yesterday and ended up having lunch at Pret for £8.50 (and it was lovely!) oh and tea and a blueberry muffin in the morning - £6.0ish I think. Also, OH bought some beers on the way home... do they count too? If all this counts we've not doing very well this month!!

You include what ever you want to - food, cleaning stuff, toiletries whatever.

However if you are likely to eat out regularly it might be worth totting up what you spend on average on it and add it in, or make a seperate allowance.

I need to be in this - and to SUCCEED this time.
I spent £5.50 at the Co-op when we got back from Scotland this afternoon - wanted cream for carbonara but they didn't have any, so settled for some baking potatoes, which I'm doing with gammon (leftovers from freezer) with gravy, a couple of carrots we brought back with us and some frozen peas. No fresh food in the house, cos I got rid of it/took what I could away with us.

My big shop will be arriving in a few minutes - I'm not sure how much it is, about £300, but if my menu planning is correct, it will see us through to the end of the month just with top ups for milk and veges. Only thing is, I got it at Ocado, which shouldn't be money-saving but actually they had what I wanted, a better delivery system and a cheaper delivery than Sainsburys too. I love the way they text a reminder of the last time for amending the order. And the colour coded bags. Will post the actual cost when I have it.
