Hi all :hello:
I'd like to Join this month please. We'll be going from today till Friday 30th Jan. I have no idea what to budget for - we spend FAR too much is all I know. Can you stick me down for £100 for this month please (prolly far too much but we'll see how we go). This is for me, OH and 3 kitty cats. I've audited the freezer and planned 24 meals (for 2) out of what we have in there already (I picked up lots of whoopsies from Somerfield about a week ago and stuck them in the freezer) We also have plenty of cleaning products and toiletries (gotta love boots 50% lol) and cat food. I also gave up smoking 19 hours ago (although that has cost me £0 since July as I was smoking duty free bought back from our holiday) Hopefully this challenge will give me something to focus on.
Budget will be more next month but whatever we can save will be a bonus as we've realised today we need to save nearly £8,000 in 7 months  (for our wedding) and this is really the only area we can cut back on!!!
I already cook from scratch (i've been a lurker on here for over a year) we even had HM creamy turkey, leek & potato soup for lunch today.
Anyway - good luck all. I'm looking forward to this

Hi can I join please! :hello:
OH and I just today were chatting about reducing our food bills. Theres only 2 of us and we seem to spend £70 - 100 per week!!! Its just too much. We always cook from scratch and make our our lunch packup so I'm not sure what its going on! I received a slow cooker for christmas so I'm hoping this will help with the challange.
I'm going to ease in gently for my first month (Jan 1 - 31) so please put me down for £250 this month and I'll collect my receipts and recalculate for next month.

Happy New Year all
Today should have been a NSD but I called at the Co-op for a paper for DH on the way to my DB's and DD informed me she hadn't had any dinner:rolleyes: (DH sorted dinner out, DD was playing in her BR so didn't have any:mad:) so wanted a sandwich. £2.10 out of my budget then!
Tomorrow I need to nip to Asda as I want a birthday cake for DD - I could make one but they normally choose their own character one when it's their birthday - and some washing up liquid as I found out tonight I haven't got any!NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

Blimey, it's only the first and we're already at 15 pages! I've got some catching up to do
Can I declare £388.37 for December, please Mrs M £38.37 over budget, however that includes £63 spent on cat food, which we don't need at the moment but the company I normally buy it from emailed to say the price is going up by 10-15% in January , so I've stocked up and now should have plenty until at least April. Without that, we'd have been £25 or so under budget
I'll go for £300 in January please. I may increase this as the freezer in the garage is starting to look quite bare, but it will need to be defrosted at some point so I might run it down and do that sooner rather than later - depends on whether I spot any good bargains in the whoopsie sections!
Happy New Year everyone  Hope 2009 is a happy and healthy year for us all.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

Hi
I would like to join - but with no kitchen and a new fridege and freezer arriving soon I might spend way to much this month
I have a plan of £200 per month for the 4 of us (plus DH brother - who does not normally eat much at home).
Stocks are low at the moment, and as we were away for Xmas there is very little in Xmas supplies.
My first job is to do the menu plan, which is a bit difficult with the builders.
I will use this month as a test and see how I get on
