Good morning all planning a GC NSD today. Need to meal plan for the coming week. Plan to make some of Twinks hobnobs, ginger bread men and some soup for lunches this week. Last night we bottled the 1st batch of ginger beer, must now wait 2 weeks before we can drink.

Spent a total of £18.97 today at MrT , this is for this weeks dry goods and a little bit of chilled. We go through a lot of milk during the week, sometimes 2lt a day, so brought 2 bottles of 2lt milk and had 1 lt already in the fridge, with a bit of watering down:wink:, have managed to turn 5 lt into 7 lt and hope this lasts the next 3 days:rolleyes: . I will buy meat, fruit/veg and milk from local shops this week and see how I get on with budget. Catch u all later.

princess leia -I know just what you mean.. There's only 2 of us but we still get through loads of milk. Sainsburys seem to have had the cheapest recently I paid £1 for 2 litres, but don't know if that offer is still on and I really do need to get some more today as I put it off yesterday so that I could have a NSD. The only thing is Mr S. is about 5 miles away. I doubt that I will check out with just one thing in my basket if I have to travel that far. Although I really am not that desperate for much else.

I have a ham hock and some veggies in my slo-cooker today -hoping to stretch that so I can freeze some if possible. The Pea and Ham soup I made yesterday will stretch for 3 days and I made some Lamb and Lentil Soup today from yesterday's leftovers, I will freeze this and hopefully it will do for 2 days. The breadmaker is on, so that will be a nice fesh loaf for DH sandwiches tomorrow.

So if I do shop today I will have to make a very pennypinching list and stick to it:confused: :rotfl: :rotfl:

5:2 Diet started 28/1/2013 only 13lbs lost due to Xmas 2013 blip.
  • I had to take DS to job centre today so while I was waiting for him I popped into LIdl to look at the veg. Parsnips at 29p per bag so got 4. Mangoes still 20p so got another 5 .Spent abot £8 in there altogether so moneywise Im fine bu-I had my Approved Foods order earlier and now have to find places to store the food!!! Eldest ones looked at me cockled when I handed them cartons of juice and pringles as I rarely get such items-it generally more sensible/cheapo stuff. So Im crammins bits n pieces everywhere-just hope I remember where!
Going to use up the tins first as a couple were dented but Im sure the contents are fine. I now have some granose nut roasts-any ideas what is really nice with them? Also have some lemon and coriander couscous-any ideas?
If I dont want to cook I have enough asparagus cuppa soups to last a couple of weeks too-well-I need to diet!
So-I cant shop-not cos Ive no money but cos Ive no space. Yes Im a bit hooked on food shopping!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Afternoon everyone, will update a bit later but i've got a quick question ....... what (if anything !) can you do with a chicken carcus that has already been cooked and then frozen. I've just found 2 in the bottom of the freezer that I think MIL put in there when we were away on hols last year. I'm not sure if I can defrost them and put in slow cooker for stew (they look like they've got a bit of meat on them). I'm pretty sure they were fresh chickens to start off with (she doesn't buy frozen).

If I have to throw them then so be it but i'd rather not until I know whether I can use them or not (I've always used the carcusses straight away so not entirely sure about using them after freezing).

  • Went to Mr A's to get a new duvets for DS and DD and also came out with £20 of Groceries oops! Have updated my sig - changed the budget as well as I realised it's easier to go by pay date than caender month so have adjusted it as I get paid next friday! Now only have £30 left though but I think I can live out of the freezer except for fruit and the odd bit of veg - I can't wait 'till I can get my second freezer!!!!
