I'd looked at mrssnowy's barabrith post today before I tried to bake a fruit teabread I'd not made for years !
Got it all wrong quantity wise and it's too crumbly to slice or anything - I'm eating it in clumsy chunks with a cup of tea !
It was meant to last me for work lunches etc ! Nobody else will touch it cos they don't like raisins etc.
Oh well ... spose it wil still fill me up ! Was doing good too ! :rotfl:
Oh eck, thats why you keep it for a few days before cutting:rotfl:

Just had a thought about an earlier post about popping out for milk and bread why not try your local milkman? I know its a little more expensive....but mine comes I am sure in the middle of the night as I have never ever heard him or her!!, I have milk and bread on a monday (freeze some slices straight off) and some more milk on Friday, then if I need any extra I just leave a note. I originally started using the milkman as many a Monday morning trying to make DS packed lunch would realise no bread!!! Now its there bright and early Monday so no dashing to the shops on a sunday to get bread and spending a fortune!! I know I should make more of the bread machine but hands up I tried this before going over to the milkman and it didnt work for us especially as I work shifts including night duty, so it was a bit hit and miss!!!
For two pts of milk and one loaf of bread I think its £2.49, but for the peace of mind of always having bread on Monday am, and keeping me out of the shops on a Sunday and adding to my NSD for me its well worth it!!DFW 1108 Proud to be dealing with my debts:love: 2014Is Going to be the Year...for love...:smileyhea0 -
Thanks Mrs M. I checked on mysupermarket & Mr T don’t do a dried mango, pineapple, papaya mix, but Mr S’s Exotic dried fruit seems to be exactly this, so will try it with DD. She’s had dried pineapple before & loved it.
I had a better than NSD today! Picked DD up from her Dad’s & he gave me a couple of bottles of wine & a bouquet of flowers for my birthday, and some smoky bacon flavour crisps (he always gives me these out of the multi-packs he buys as he doesn’t like them).
He then started rummaging in his freezer & pulling out things saying I may as well have them, as he didn’t think he would use them. So I gained some tortilla wraps, an individual meat pie, a chicken breast in breadcrumbs& 3 portions of lasagne, and also ¼ of a Christmas cake.:D
I’ve wedged the food into the freezer section of my fridge/freezer for now. Sooo looking forward to getting my second freezer, which is being delivered on Thursday. :j0 -

Am slowly getting the hang of meal planning and really seems to be helping, should only need onions this week!! The person who suggested having seven categories for your meals deserves a medal. Even DS 14 is starting to suggest things for the categories and i have a special category for him to cook once a week.
.
Must have missed that post, what are the categories please??:D
Any help with meal planning is a godsend!0 -

Sponge with jam and coconut! Just do a tray bake plain sponge then smear the top with jam and sprinkle with the coconut - I don't know about the rest of you but this was a school dinner staple in NI served with pink custard lol. Plus its huge! xx0

Well, I knew I was going to come in slightly over budget food wise (i'm already about ten pounds over - but it's on healthy stuff like lentils lol) but tonight my dd put the washer on and all of a sudden !!!!!! all the lights went out  accompanied by a rather worrying amount of burning smell and smoke!
I am gutted, it's just cost me £180 for a new one! So that's taken care of any breathing space I had for January and probably February as well :mad:0
