  • I've done my first shop from the January budget £68.00, I expect to spend another £45 - £50 tomorrow which should leave me with enough for bread and fresh fruit. I spent £23.00 on two pork joints and a ham joint which I have cooked and cut down into meal portions - I managed 12 meals so it's going to come in at just under two pounds a meal, I didn't think that was bad especially if you look at the quality of the meat!

quote=rachelmk;17094649]Morning all! Well it is for me anyway!
Is anyone else totally sick of food?

Yes Heartily! It's so hard to get everyone back into a routine.
from the weekend onwards I'll be officially back on Slimming World so it'll be lots of fresh veg and fruit (a relief!)
Good luck with that - i'll cross my fingers for you!
  • Hi, Can you include me also please

    January Budget - £100

This is for 2 of us. This would include grocery and Takeaways. No toiletries as I have enough supply from LUSH for a year

I am joining this thread officially for the first time but since discovering this site and OS forum have been working on reducing our food bills for a year now.

    Thanks:money:
  • Please put me down for £160 again this month. I haven't yet declared on the December thread but I think I am likely to be on budget for the first time :j so will stick with this figure. Thanks Mrs M,

My goodness, so many posts on the January thread already!
I'm declaring December as done slightly over budget, but I'm blaming that on having the flu, and needing quick easy meals for the family that didn't involve much effort.

I'd like to set my January budget as £300
  • Hi Please count me in on this one, have really gone mad over the past few months and need to rein it in a lot now, I am setting £150 a month for me OH and two DD Many Thanks.

I'm brand new to the Grocery Challenge so i am going to set myself a higher target to begin with, in the hopes of bringing it down as the months go on and as i become more familiar with getting the most out of MSE hints and tips and recipes etc.

I will start off with a Grocery budget of £320 for January 2009. That is for myself, two ever-hungry teens and the dog! The January budget includes food items, toiletries, ready meals, meals out, takeaways and household cleaning products etc.

    Thanks!

  • Sorry everyone but I can't declare a total for December, totally lost count as had family staying and had friends visiting so extra cooking/partying and it all snowballed I'm afraid. Never mind, a fresh start now so MRSMC can you please put me down for £250 for January please.

I'm confident that it's achievable as still loads of stuff in from Xmas, both freezers full and cupboards still looking good - fingers crossed.

Hope you all had a fantastic Xmas, MRSMC - sorry I missed wishing you a Happy Birthday, hope you had a good one. In case I don't get logged on again this week, hope everyone has a fantastic New Year.:D

Hi MrsMc, came in under budget again last month, so I am setting a January Challenge budget of £265
    which includes toiletries, laundry etc

I am v lucky hubby won a fishing tournament and won a huge hamper (the turkey crown is still in the freezer) and my £48 in Tesco stamps are still in tact! The freezer is full and I feel quite optimistic that I can beat my set budget this month

Good luck and Happy New Year to all, dtx
  • Please can I join the challenge?

My month started on the 23rd Dec.

My target is £130 for 2 of us.
That has included the food for Christmas and the big shop for the month already. So far I have spent £83.19.
Hoping to reduce this to £100 in the following months.

    Thank you
