So no trouble out of the ordinary except...
Door sensors replaced a few times, expensive keys easily damaged, low MPG, underpowered diesels, inevitable warrenty issues & annoying electrical issues on 4/5 year old cars???
It kinda answers it's own question there
No different to any other cars I've owned, VW, VX etc.You ignore the issues that I am comparing engines accross a single model range, I don't think 30+ mpg for a car of the scenics size is too bad for a 2ltr petrol, do you? But 60+mpg from my diesel estate is worth paying a lttle extra for.
The transponder keys for most modern cars are are in a similar price range.
My comment about the doors is that renault have gone over the top with an automatic system that is totally unneccessary and only nice to have
My daughter changed from an Audi TT to the scenic when she had twins, I posted about that today, read it kind of adds perspective about a car costing twice as much.
Try and keep an open mind;)
, I didn't ask a question, just offered personal experience, but probably should have added that my renault experience only covers the last 5 or 6 years, I personally bought nothing but VX for 20 years before that, with the odd VW in the family.
There is nothing in my experience to suggest I have made anything but a sound economical choice. Forgot to add that I changed the wifes car a month or so ago, 07 megane hatch to replace the clio she had for the previous 5 years.
Another 1.5dci diesel.
Each to his/her own;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Ive owned a VW for 6/7 years and had no major issues at all. My 130bhp Diesel gets 60+ MPG and a bit more sufficiently powered for a vehicle of that size. My VW transponder key costs £105 and comes in two parts so if you dont need both you can half the bill. There isquite a bit of non-essential gimmicks on new cars...I can see the VW auto handbrake being a problem in a few years

Sorry added a bit more stuff to my last post before you posted this.
The concern I have with the scenic is the electric handbrake, if the motor goes or even just the cable, it's £300 +, and lots of cars going this way, why?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Sarah Skint - at least you'd have a card... think of the panic if you only had a remote and then a button to push to start it....
Its all moving on, gotta get used to it.Genie

I purchased a 03 plate 1.9 diesel Laguna dymanique in August 2008, card rather than key, I asked for another card as it only came with one, and I believe they are quite costly. The card works fine but I do sometimes think just another gadget to go wrong at some point. I had a hire car the other week and completely forgot how to use a key, funny what you get used to even funnier when you ask someone to move your car and you hand them the card. Trouble I find you can't put it on a key ring and I have left mine in every shop you can think of, got a new handbag now with the perfect space to put it.Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.0 -
We have a 1.6 petrol scenic drives well (unlike some peoples views on here). it came with 2 cards at 2 years old it is now 3 years old. No problems with anything touch wood. You get used to the handbrake:T0
