Do you have anything saleable to show for your debt, like fancy hardly-worn clothes or electrical gadgets? Anything you can do without can go on ebay...
Re the saving scheme - what sort of scheme is this? Do you have any saved cash in there at the moment? There is no point saving if you're in debt (because the interest on the debt is greater than the interest on the savings) so ditch the scheme if possible and put the savings towards your debt.Operation Get in Shape

I have to say you're still going to struggle (as far as I can tell) on your earnings to pay back what you owe and rent and living. If you cut the following things completely - Food Shopping- eat with your parents, just less of it if you're dieting! Cinema Trips, Other Fun, New Clothes, Magazines, Haircuts, Drinks for Home, Drinking Out - you're still only going to save £220.78 a month - which isn't even your overspend covered. Cut your car costs and you're a further £250.72 in the clear, which gives you enough space to clear some of those debts - it would give you a great chance at least, if you're within public transportable areas.
I genuinely think your best bet is to get another job - either better paid in your current role or a second job. Work in a pub - you get your nights out and get paid for it - it could save you a fortune!
Good luck, and well done for deciding to do something about it.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -
hiya,
personally i echo the thoughts of others.......eat with your family instead of buying extra, give the drinks in and out a miss, if you are saving for car maint and tax, could you put this off til you are in a better position? cancel the savings, cinema, fun, clothing, magazines and haircuts....doing all this will still only leave you with £40 per month. is there something you could do about your traveling costs as they are HUGE. if not, as fairylights says..a second job might be an idea...a social life as well as an income if you work in a pub/club.
could your parents drop the rent for the time being?
you really need to get those credit cards/bank accounts back in line with their credit limits. what is your credit rating like?
well done for posting BTWNovember NSD's - 70 -

If you do a job well, people won't be sure you've done anything at all

Hi and thanks for the messages.
To answer a few a second job is not really a viable option at the moment, I leave for work in the morning at 7.15 and don't arrive back until 8.30pm ish but I'll have a look and see if there's anything I can do.
Travelling costs are thanks to a 48 mile round trip to work everyday and because of the locations public transport is out (no rail links or direct buses) and can't car share as no-one I'm aware of makes the same journey.
Also I have nothing really of any value to show from my spends, as I've previously said my addiction swallowed pretty much all of it up.
Is anyone aware of this sort of problem previously with the creditors I've got? Would they be generally sympathetic to situation I'm in.
I'm very worried now about what I'm going to do. I've now got no cash for a week0 -
That is a long communte
Is it worth it for the money paid?

It may be wise for you to speak to a Free Debt Management Comapny such as CCCS(?) or Payplan (not those horrible kind who charge you!!). If you can cut all your spending down to a minimum as another poster said earlier you will still struggle to even make a dint in your debts.
I'm not sure if other posters will agree with me but reading similar posts to yours, this is what many suggest.
Good Luck. People with similar experiances will point you in the right direction.

God knows what credit rating is like, I've had default notices recently but have managed to stump at the last moment to avoid them being issued.
Have broached the subject of reducing my rent but the folks think I've sponged of them for far too long so there's little or no chance of that.0 -
Still I'd give the national debt line a ring (or someone like that) for some free advice.
Good Luck
