Lovefilm free trial

  • Both me and my DH have done Lovefilm free trials and had no problems cancelling at all. I did mine through Quidco and he did his through We Promise To. Got to see a few movies we wanted to see and each got £17 cashback.

We both cancelled while we still had a dvd and just received an email which stated the account would be closed as soon as the outstanding dvd's were returned. We received an email confirming the accounts were closed the same day they received the dvd's back.

I've had a leaflet from Lovefilm offering me 3 months free rentals. It's addresses to me and says that I can use it but in the small print it says previous customers aren't elligible.

They have my details because I was a previous customer so how can they send me this offer then say I'm not elligible.

Is it possible I could sign up for this anyway?

Edit: Signed up. Clicked the button to say I was an existing member, signed in with the account that I previously had a free trial with and I was still giving 90 days free. I think if they didn't want me to have two free trials they wouldn't let me get this far.

I keep seeing a link on the lovefilm homepage, where you can rent games for 30 days, but when i click on it, it returns to the 14 days free trial, not including games... Can anyone help? I'm looking for a trial of games & DVD's for as long as possible. 14 days is useless to me

I hadn't read this thread before I signed up. When I joined, this is what it said.:

    Thanks for joining LOVEFiLM!
You have just started a 14 day free trial.
    What happens now...
When your free period expires your debit/credit card will be automatically charged £15.65, and so on every month that you continue to be a member. Your first charge is scheduled for .. If you cancel your membership before then and return your DVDs promptly there will be no charge for our service.

So then I phone up to cancel the day before the trial ends (can't do it online- spoke to India) to be told that I will be charged the next day because "all the DVDs have to be back in the warehouse before the 14 days" and of course they have sent another one out.:mad::mad: Where does it say that in the terms?:mad:

Anyway, after I protested they extended the free trial by 5 days and put on a delayed cancellation to give time to send the outstanding DVDs back.

I had two back to back 90 day trials with them which I found strange. Im currently coming towards the end of one with Tesco which is ran my Lovefilm behind the scenes so I dont think really I was eligible to this free trial either but as of yet not heard anything and I had no problems with the other two. Seems strange?
  • I'm currently in a 3-month free trial, I suspect what I'll do is cancel the account towards the end of my free trial and then sign up again with quidco and get £15 cash back.
  • When you return the DVDs, do they know who they've come from? (e.g. from coding on the envelope or DVD.) or do you have to put in a piece of paper saying where it's come from?

I had a trial offer a coupla years back as a special offer from Sainsburys Magazine with a free dvd and voucher for bottle of red wine then cancelled once I had to start paying. Last Summer they sent me a thing in the post for a 90 day trial. So I think they do these things knowing they want to get us back.

Entertainer it is not India you speak to but somewhere in the Midlands, Peterborough I think and you must send them back way before.. I think it is about 5 days or so before the charge date. It is quite clear on their site. you can print off like I did a thing about how to cancel and the rules on it.

I was looking for a trial longer than 14 days and i was emailed this offer from Matalan, 30 days trial & £10 Lovefilm shop voucher.

    http://www.matalan.co.uk/pages/news/offers-and-events/lovefilm-offer

It says it expires Jan but it worked for me so we shall see.

    #This offer expires on 31st January 2009.
