they only send films out when they receive your last lot back - they don't just arbitrarily send out films as and when they feel like it.
If you have no films in your list they send out random films, just as they do if they don't have the films in your list. So, if you send your last film back, but don't cancel your accont before they send out the next random film, you can't close your account, and around it goes.
I'm glad you have had a good experience with Lovefilm, unfortunatley I haven't.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

i don't want to go any further at the moment because i don't particularly want to cancel the free trial as it doesn't end until marchpeachyprice wrote: »If you have no films in your list they send out random films, just as they do if they don't have the films in your list.
Well I honestly have to say that this is news to me.
I've had around 9 accounts with lovefilm and at least one account with every other online dvd rental company that has operated in the past 6 years and this is something i've never heard of or come across.peachyprice wrote: »So, if you send your last film back, but don't cancel your accont before they send out the next random film, you can't close your account, and around it goes.
You can close your account at any time - all it will do is ask you to send the films back. Get a proof of posting, send them back and it's cancelled.0 -

That doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others, if you read back I'm not the only person this has happened to.
I can see you rate Lovefilm highly, lucky you. I hope you continue your fantastic relationship with them. I on the other hand have not been so lucky, hey ho.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

please accept my apologies if i appear condescending or anything like that because it really isn't the intent - i'm just genuinely surprised that this happens because i've used the company(and many others) so extensively over the past 6 years. i fully accept that for every dozen people who have no issues there are invariably 1 or 2 that do, it's just the way it goes i suppose.
i wouldn't say my relationship with lovefilm is 'fantastic' though. it is what it is - functional0 -
I've cancelled several Lovefilm accounts over the years (not because I was unhappy, but because the free trial was running out).
What I did was to take all the DVD's out of the list, send the last one back, check in the next day to make sure it was received, and then cancel via the website. I've never had to phone and speak to anyone. And I've never had them send me random disks.0 -

this is now officially bugging me, so i've emailed lovefilm about it to see if they can clarify0 -

I can say they have never sent me random films the last time I was with them and I did have quite a few occasions when I had no films on my list.
I did however get a lot of emails asking for me to add titles to my list.0 -
What, not even when they didn't have any of your films in stock?
This was why we got so pee'd off with them, they were sending stuff that bore absolutely no resemblance to the type of film we had on our list.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Have to say have had several free trials... never had a problem with cancelling on line and never had any random discs...

Both me and a friend took advantage of the lovefilm offer via topcashback.
In my case, I picked out 4 films, 2 of which were sent to me. The second they arrived, I removed the other 2 films in my list and sent the two I had back. Once they showed up on the site as returned, I cancelled the deal by hitting cancel in my account and putting down a reason why I wanted to quit. The cash back tracked very quickly and I was very impressed as the ease of the wehole thing.
My friend did the same based on my recomendation and did it exactlyt he same way with one small difference - he got the ring this number to cancel screen... so he rang the number and cancelled (again, they just wanted a reason for the cancellation). In both cases, there were no problems and I would recomend taking up on the cashback offer based on the experiences I have had with them.0
