    Hi my dear friends

I have not been keeping up of late as I have had quite a few very personal and difficult things going on in my life. My change of work location and other childhood issues have been raising their heads and I am going to have to go back for counselling. Wish I could say I have been reading the Daily Thread but unfortunately that has gone out of the window.

Christmas Day was fine apart from my mother being a pain in the bahookie but I got some lovely presents plus some lovely birthday wishes from my dearest family and close friends. Another year older but maybe not another year wiser. DH is being so supportive through this hard time I am having.

Spent yesterday with my DD, DSIL and the boys playing with the Wii, having a lovely meal etc. Then picked up DS and fiancee at the airport and now looking forward to his 30th birthday on 29th. He is currently unemployed due to the recession but he is cheerful and is sure he will get something soon. DGS1 was so excited when he brought in my Birthday Cake on Boxing Day and my wish is for a much better year not just for me but for my family who have spent the last few months having to support me so much.

I hope all my special friends had a lovely day and I was thinking about you dearest Smokey. Hope you and the children managed to have a good day.

    Lots of love to all

  • Hugs to all.

Not much going on here - little bear is incredibly adventurous, trashed the spare room without us realising (and we cannot fix a stairgate to the top of the stairs :eek::eek:) and is refusing all naps.

So we are either trying to clear up so that it can be safe for little bear, watching little bear like a hawk or exhausted. But happy.

    Best wishes to all.

Welllll ! In spite of saying I didn't want/need to go to the Sales....we ended up in Hull town centre (eventually) this afternoon. Tried to park at Tesco, but after 15 mins cruising the carpark for a space gave up and decided to try another car park. Only there was a broken down bus stopping the traffic. Eventually got thru and parked elsewhere.

The reason for this wasn't that we needed or wanted shopping, but because DH hasn't been to the centre for years, as we don't live there and haven't since leaving school. There have been lots of changes and he fancied having a look! So we walked round and tried to decide where everything used to be.

Had first visit ever to Home Bargains and got a few things, 2 pr easy readers (more MS than Boots which were my last ones that got broken and were £20!) 2 bottles wine, tetley teabags for dh to take dd in Mexico, dishcloths can't remember what else. Oh, 1/2 doz hankies for dh. All for about £15 which seemed very reasonable.

Got a baby present for dd's friend's baby. Half price at Adams. Pleased with that too.

Delicious home cooked roast beef dinner by Mum and couldn't manage mince pie and custard, so might have some later.

Lovely day. Did a couple of jobs for Mum and she helped me to graft the toe of my sock I've just knitted.

DH is going out with a guy that used to be at youth orchestra tonight for a pint. Not seen him for years and years, although we still keep Christmas card contact. So I can have a nice peaceful evening.

Home tomorrow. I'll have to start cooking for myself again...although we are getting a food parcel to take with us I think.

DS2 and DIL have gone to London to see Mama Mia, they are staying over in a hotel, it is their Christmas present to each other. Then going down to see DS1,DIL and our DGD's in West Sussex. The LO's are getting so excited anyone would think it is Father Christmas who is going to stay:D

  • You've taught your son well SunnyGirl. He's a credit to you. For those suffering my thought and prayers go out to you.
I got up early this morning and got in half an hours exercising. Made homemade vegetable curry with the root vegetables that were on the turn. Having read this thread I will freeze the remaining beef from Christmas Day. Went to my parents and looked at old photographs and school reports from yesteryear. Brought back many happy and unhappy memories.
    Oh well quiet day tomorrow.

    Hi guys,

Well it has been a calm and overall pleasent day here today. I have had to clean another wet patch in the boys room but this time it was down to LO who was punished by loosing his chocolate ration (4 small squares) today. DS1 has managed to damage the monitor on the pc and the picture is less than brilliant (carp!!!) - I couldn't look at it for long LOL - and so I have told him I will at the end of January get another one if he stops piddling everywhere. He has had a game that he really wanted for xmas and is having problems seeing it and so I hope that this will raise his game a little bit. He has been told that one widdle out of line and the monitor will never be replaced.

The nets and windows have been cleaned upstairs and I will do the rest tomorrow. The lamb curry was gorgeous and went down well with all except LO!! The kids have asked for minted lamb chops tomorrow with all the trimmings and so I am happy - that's another serving of veggies heading their way followed by a fresh fruit salad and ice cream.

Today I feel strangely content, a feeling I have not had for a long, long while. Whilst most nights I usually have a good weep and wallow in memories and what if's, tonight I am feeling more positive for the future. (long may it last), and over the next few weeks feel it is time to plan ahead and look at the possibility of loosing the mortgage over the next 5 years if I can. Time for a new SOA and let the DFW board look over it for cutting back and some advice. I can't promise it will be soon but that is the way I am thinking today.

Anyway, love and gentle hugs to all in need today. Thank you for all your kind thoughts over the last few days, they really do help.

    Smoky. xxxx

Not been keeping up over Christmas, the ravenous hordes have now started to disperse, DD2 and family went off to Cork to visit her partner's family and DD1 also headed home to Cork this morning. DS1 and family are here until Monday and then a few days break before Cousin arrives from Oz until 9th Jan.

Christmas went well we all ate well, didn't have much to drink as didn't just fancy it , but have eaten lots of chocs and mince pies, haven't touched cake or pudding yet, so lots of goodies for at least a month I think.

    Hugs to all

  • Morning everyone:D
Had a fantastic day yesterday (Saturday) oldest friend (as in years known lol) arrived with her DH and is here until Monday. We spent the evening putting the world to rights and downing the odd drink or two:rolleyes: . Antiques Fair in the morning then back here for roast beef and Yorkshire puddings (she is exiled in Berkshire so is obviously in need of some proper food :D )
They are staying until Monday and I can't stop smiling.
Hope everyone is ok, not had chance to catch up.
