Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sales day!! This is an “Over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Morning peoples. It's cold and frosty here this morning.
I am off to work soon and sort of glad to be back. I almost wish I could go sale shopping, but I can't believe there is anything I want and they would have to reduce it a long way to get me to part with any more money.
I do want some shoes in M & S, but they are not in the sale. I only need 20% or so and then I can get them for free with my M&S vouchers.
Spent Boxing day walking along the seafront at Porthleven and Penzance, made a nice change from watching TV, although I did get home and watch dead mans chest and eat leftovers.
Well, I think it could be day 3 of not a penny spent, although I may have to pay for a haircut later..
Hope you get a bargain today

Morning :hello: I'm going to town with my youngest ds (10) this morning. He's going to buy himself a Wii. I'm so proud of him he's saved his pocket money, birthday & christmas money for the entire last year & now has enough :T We researched the best possible price for him online yesterday & he's sooo excited. Another old styler in the making I think
Apart from that its mystery veg soup (to use up any odd veg) & naan for tea probably followed by leftover trifle, a walk with the dogs & then carrying on with my cross stitch in the daylight before it gets impossible to see properly - I'm at a bit where I'm stitching pale yellow thread onto pale yellow material
Hope everyone has a good day & is recovering from any illnesses that have been going round. Hugs to all that need them.

Morning, everyone.
I got a bit of a surprise when I looked out of the window this morning. I thought it had snowed overnight! Turns out it's just a really heavy frost, but never mind
Christmas Day #2 today, where a group of friends will get together and exchange Secret Santa budget presents - I'm hoping it'll be a nice day.
I think I'm coming down with the dreaded cold. At least I'll have some time to recover before going back to work. I'm lucky - no work til January now.I think a hot cup of tea is in order before I make a start on nibbles #2!
Hope everyone has a good day. (((hugs))) to those in need, and may something randomly wonderful brighten your day.

Hi guys and gals,
Well, that's another Christams over and done with; well almost at any rate! We've not eaten at home since thee day before Christmas Eve so it's been really OS for us.
We're having my Mum round for tea tonight so I'll be cooking for two extra heads tonight. I'm doing garlic mushrooms, salmon with olives and anchovies and then Christmas cake and custard so it won't be too much of a chore. Lots of wine too of of course
Lots of OS cleaning up to do today as the place has been neglected over the past few days so it'll be scourer and rubber gloves at the ready when I've just caught up with all my internet browsing
MrS is still in bed, he's going to have a very sore head when he does wake up as he drank far too much last night. I'll have to hoover very quietly me thinks.0 -
Morning all,
I have the bm and dw on, lots of tidying to do. My DM and OH arived y/day, we exchanged pressies and had the obligatory bubble and squeek and cold meats and pickles for dinner. DD1, GD and DD2 are coming for dinner tonight. I've got a joint of gammon simering which I'll serve with jackets, sweetcorn and salad. Must make a nut roast loaf for veggies.
DH is running out of shirts so must do some ironing.
DM wants to hit the sales this a.m. I hate the crowds and normally shop online. Got some banking to do online, bills to pay.
Not much else happening here, off to catch up.
Hope everyone had a good Crimble.0 -
Morning :hello:
Lovely frost here today
Mr tru has gone to work and the teen-trus probably won't surface before lunch  so I've got time and space to get on with things. I've got some washing soaking in the sink, and more waiting it's turn. The kitchen has been swished. The animals could do with some exercise so I'll let them out in a bit.
We're going to my mum and dad's later, so the kids can finally give them their Christmas presents
I'm off for a lovely hot showerBulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Frosty here too, all went well yesterday 7 here for lunch, cold meat mash and pickle, it was delish, then left over puddings, and lots of wine  .
OH has gone out to the boot sale, and dd is still in bed, so a bit of peace for now, I have a wash on, and will hang it out as it looks like a nice day.
I am going to put the turkey and duck carcas is the sc today, to make stock for soup, we will have cold meat (again  ), with nice bread and salad for tea, and meat left will then be frozen for a pie.
OH and I will go out walking today, I need the excercise  , will take a sandwich with us. DD is off to town to meet up with some mates, one of them now lives in Dubai, but is visiting for Xmas, so lot of girlie screams will be heard
Need to have a quick tidy, but no deep cleaning will be done till next week.
Hugs to those in need, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
A really hard frost here this morning too - looks so pretty.
Had a fab christmas day at home, yesterday was spent with in-laws and today we're off to my parents for round 3  .
Both DD's were really happy with their pressies and loved the homemade gifts, In-laws loved the hamper of homemade goodies too - always nice to know they were appreciated.
Got enough cold meat to sink a battle ship, will portion it all up tonight after we've had another picky tea and get it all frozen down.
Got given yet another 2 tins of sweets yesterday, we'll be eating them until next Christmas at this rate.....I expect DH will take a tin into work for the office to share...I normally make cakes on a friday for him to take in, they'll have to make do with choccy until it's all gone.
In-laws managed to give us the present back that we gave them last year.....:rotfl: I wanted to laugh but refrained, it was a lovely cheese board with knives that DH and I really liked - his parents entertain a lot and love cheese so we thought they'd appreciate it - hey-ho - I'll use it!
Hope you all have fab day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning one and all
Hope everyone's enjoying the festive season :T My parents came over for Christmas dinner which was lovely. I need to do a store cupboard list and meal plan because I have cupboards full but don't feel like I've got any food IYSWIM.
I'm avoiding all shops as I'm tempted to go mad and think everything's a bargain:p I want to buy stuff to sell on at a profit but don't want to buy it in the first place as I will end up spending any profit and more things that we 'need' before I've made it
Plan for today is relax for a couple of hours because I canThen do housework, get washing on go, store cupboard list and meal plan  After lunch we're going to wrap up warm and take the dog for a nice long walk at a local beauty spot.
Yesterday I added all 2009 dates to the new calendar and did annual budget for the first time ever. I'm hoping it won't be to hard to stick to as I've got quite a bit to get me started and have already paid for the next terms dancing lessons :money:
