Good to know that they honoured almost 2k worth of transactions and im now in debt, with no money and no cards.
You would have thought they would have called me or stopped them?
Why would i put myself in debt the day before xmas day when in the 15 years ive been with them, ive never hit red?!?
I'm not best pleased! :wall: and they will be getting a flea in their ear 2moro. Its now been cancelled only because i called when my legitimate transaction was declined today!

Who did you let have your card long enough to clone it?0

They don't even need your card these days.
It's quite easy for the fraudsters to determine how card number series work for different banks and generate card numbers and test with expiry dates.
3 digit security number and Chip & Pin aren't used in a lot of countries. That's why these frauds are not carried out in the UK and you know nothing about it until your money has gone.
Once they find a card number and expiry date that works, they milk it.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
how u no it was cloned on xmas eve?!0

Because i called to ask and they said transactions were used on xmas eve. wiped me out completely.
Yep, it said unknown transactions abroad as above, they dont use the 3 digit code in many countries.
I'm getting sorted now, but im paying cash from now on for retail items. !!!!!!0 -
I think it was assumed it was a debit card and left the OP overdrawn, rather than a credit credit. Apologies if I offended, you are prefectly right if it was a credit card it would not be as big an issue unless the OP was completely reliant on their credit card for everyday use.0

The problem is not just with Halifax, it could happen to your shiny platinum AMEX card, the issue is with the law and the thief, you will get your money back from the bank however it has been unfortunate for you and I am sorry it happened so close to xmas, the law needs to do more to protect Debit and Credit cards from fraud i.e. be more proactive with this type of crime and hit the criminal hard....literally, break their hands between blocks of wood with a sledge hammer, they will think twice before stealing again.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
