I went shopping at my tescos on tues evening and while i was there i saw some mint cookies were due out of date that day so i asked at the customer service if i could have then reduced as £1.09 was not worth paying that when it went out of date that day and i wont going to eat 6 fresh baked cookies to myself the lady went off asked someone in the bakery department as she come back with oh we dont reduce in the bakery department now if its just out of date we throw it away  I said well no wonder your prices going up as this time of crisis people would be please for reduced stuff if they going to throw it out why dont the give it to homeless people or these places that help people with no homes

Giving away out of date food isn't exactly a good idea.
Can you imagine if someone gets food poisoning from it?
Tescos would get sued big time in this day and age.
In other words we ruin things for ourselves.0 -
no i think you dont get my point
they did used to reduce stuff on the bakery department some homeless person would be gratefull for it and i am not on about food that is 2 days out of date i am on about on that day like bread and cakes ?0 -
Gone are the days when they could at least recycle the waste food through pigs unfortunately. It seems it all goes into landfilll.now.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Just about all businesses which deal with food throw some away. I don't see why Tesco should be singled out in this respect.0

Because we've become a compensation culture, businesses can't risk the possibility of being sued over trivial things.
Hense food gets binned instead of being sold off cheap, and often maufactured goods that could be repaired get shredded for fear that if thier sold off on the cheap someone will do something silly and then blame the business.
This is why everything here costs so much."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
