I used them once and wasn't happy about several things and emailed but never got a response so even though I often look at the site and I'm tempted by the bargains I haven't used them again!!

    Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been on here so I've spent time reading through all of your posts, I'm so impressed and inspired by your talents and what you've been making!

After ages of wondering what snowman soup is, I did a forum search for it today and now I know!

I am so pleased that I'm not the only person hoarding all sorts of boxes and jars, I'm driving my boyfriend mad!

I'm probably preaching to the already converted, but I thought I'd mention how great Poundland is and how obsessed I am with it. It's great for crafting too, they have a set of all different types and sizes of glues, a pack of about 5 I think, which works out at 20p each. They also sell double sided tape, glitter glues, scissors, tissue paper, card tops, etc.

Poundland also sell big bags of sweets, I'm going to stock up and make party type Christmas bags as presents and put them in jars, mugs, etc.

On another note - is anyone else really upset that Woolworths is no more? I'm absolutely gutted!

    Hi shezmit

I have a sock monkey already made up if you want it, it was one of the first ones I ever did but its still quite nice. Sorry but all my pics have vanished off my photobucket account so can't show you a pic but its a pink, grey and white striped one. Let me know if you want it and I will post it out to you:D

ETA : Just found another one up in the bedroom if you want that, it's all black with a white bum, white head and white mouth with a knitted red hat and scarf set.

ETA: Here's a pic of them Shelley, hope it works

    hi, can i join too?

i made snowman soup, personalise chocolate slabs and sock monkeys all of which were well received and i've had several requests for more which is what i'm planning on doing

i currently have 16 sock monkeys stuffed and ready to be sewn together and dressed. i have been given socks from loads of people who have spotted cheap ones in the sale that they would like made into monkeys and i bought 24 pairs from ebay for £12 delivered. so i guess i'm going to be busy making sock monkeys eh?

i'm loving the dammit doll idea so will be making some of those along with pots of gold and will be using the free name a star site and printing off my own certificates.

i haev a few friends who are having babies and will be making nappy cakes so will maybe do sock jam, sock cupcakes/muffins. knicker/glove/slipper sock cakes.

i also read somewhere about putting white vests/bibs/socks etc into a baby bottle and wrapping in cello and trying a dummy on with the bow

i got a bit disheartened when i mentioned to a friend a coupld days before chrsitmas that i was making her 2 sons (age 5 and 3) personalised chocolate slabs with mini thomas the tank sweets using the silicone moulds from poundland and the response i got was "oh so you're not actually buying them anything, at least i know not to spend much on your 2" !!! so i'll know not to bother with handmade stuff for them in the future !

How mean is that of your friend? I thought your idea sounded really nice and personal for the children. If I had kids, I'd be really chuffed that someone had gone to the trouble of making them a pressie. It shows you've put some thought in to it and also in view of the 'current economic climate' (don't you just hate that phrase) people cut their cloth accordingly and should be thankful they are getting anything at all. Rant over. Sorry.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

    Hi Angelkay,welcome on board:hello:

Sadly some people do not realise how much more time , thought and effort go into planning and making something and you will never change their opinion so these people are best given bought gifts or vouchers, to satisfy your creative side you can alway make special wrapping or voucher holders.
Us here ont the other hand wonder at other members ideas and creations and really appreciate any handmade token......

everyone else thought that they were great.

i used white chocolate and wrote the childrens names back to front on the bottom of a silicon loaf tin left it to set then poured on milk chocolate. while that was setting i pushed sweets onto the chocolate things like magic stars, white buttons, smarties, marshmallows etc, the adults ones had ferrero rochers, kitkat and mars pieces. so that when you poppedthe bars out of the tins the names were thr right way round and made it flat instead of icing the names on iygwim

i did give the boys a fiver each too so that they could buy something the choc bars were in place of a selection box. i was a bit miffed but i'll know not to bother again. shes the kind of person that goes by the cost of things rather than the thought behind it. she doesn't 'do' sales or reduced stuff.

i better make it clear that this is my dp#s best friends wife so i didn't really choose to be friends with her lol
