As far as im aware the baking powder doesnt start working until its mixed with a fluid of some sorts......could be wrong but ive never had a problem with mine :) You can make it as far ahead as you need to just make sure you label when the first thing goes out of date - so if the flour is use by 9/10 and the baking powder was 3/10 you would have to make it up before March.... :)

Kim if you put the flower at the bottom of the jar and all the other ingredients in with the smarties on top then its easier to tip the sweets out without the dusty ingredients coming out too - Sharon put her smarties on top of the oats which would mean a few oats may come out but at least they can be picked up and popped back in the main mix. does that make sense? :rotfl:

thank you I've asked a few times but no ones answered me so at least now I know !!! can't wait to make them up lol
  • One more question then ill stop i promise!
I looked at a atandard nescafe jar- 100g. The freeman and harding jars are 6oz [approx 170g]. And Both irishgirls and negirls cookie mix fitted nicely into coffee jars.
So NEGirl, would the freeman and harding jars be too big for such a mix?

The pic i took was of a 200g jar with the mix inside and to be honest there looks WAY too much to fit inside the freeman and harding jars (i would have said they looked half the size!) - you could always do the 100g mix and add a layer of baking/greaseproof paper to the top and then pop in some more sweets for them to either add as decoration or pick as as they make the mix. :)

I still have a couple of the jars that i havent filled yet so will see if i can work one out with the right measurements etc (which reminds me i still need to upload the tutorial for the star books too!!) Im guessing my next post might be a big one!! :rotfl:
