Queenbee -lovely idea thanks, but I did something very similar for my friend last Christmas....she loved it

moneysaver - I have done a diary, notebook and keyring post it note -had put them in a gift bag I'd made but could always use that for something else.........also covered a A5 notebook for my friend in fabric..........could put that is with the diary and the rest of the stuff. Way of using up the box as well as wrapping it. Might do that, Thanks.:j

Neighbour has just brought me round a glass gravy jar with a gold lid -perfect for a 'pot of gold'..........just got to think who didn't have one last year..............lol
She gave me a box to cover as well - crikey I'm inundated with gravy tubs (OH keeps giving me them!), little plastic pots from a chap at the pub, kitchen roll middles (neighbour) -feel like a re-cycling plant.....

shaz - there's no link to the robin plantpots. It was an idea OH came up with when we were working out what I could do with some very small plant pots (the size you get when planting seeds)
Some of them are bright red, the others terracotta colour. OH reckoned a good idea was to put some plastic on the bottom to cover the hole, fill them with birdseed, cover the top with clear perspex and glue a little robin (cake decoration sort)on the side of the pot. I'm adding one to little grandsons Christmas Eve box so he can put it out on Christmas morning. Haven't done one yet but thats the general idea.
    Hope that helps.

  • I love the sound of those mary, shame we don't get any birds in our tiny backyard :( I might go and hang some fat balls on the trees in the park as a little RAOK, as the little birdies need a helping hand getting enough energy during the colder months.

  • I suppose, I guess there's nothing in there to attract them now apart from a bunch of old weeds (which incidentally I like as there's always loads of butterflies on the flowers, but my dad keeps telling me to get rid of them ). I might put a few fat balls out or something and see what happens, I like having wildlife in the back but never have a proper back garden

  • You guys are inspiring me so much for Christmas 2009! I am hooked on the forums… you all have such fantastic ideas! I’ve never really been crafty, but this year I am making 15 pots of gold for friends and family as well as a cushion cover for my nephew… I’ve bought the cover but I am sewing a personalised design on there for him. Wish me luck. Lol! xx :money:
  • Queen bee - thanks for that, I have four close friends who'd love that.
