  • IrishGirl, what have you put in the book for the 100th birthday? I want to do one next year for my nan's 70th, but don't know what to put in, apart from the odd photo.

IrishGirl, what have you put in the book for the 100th birthday? I want to do one next year for my nan's 70th, but don't know what to put in, apart from the odd photo.

I am doing a small one with pages one saying she was a fridays child "fridays child is loving and giving, her name and its meaning, next page gives the cost of living in 1909, next page, the names of kings and queens that reigned in her life time, next is music of 1909, records broken that year, (car broke record world record speed of 20mph to 28mph!!!) age she was during each world orld war and few other facts of history and i finished it with a penny coin minted in 1909 i got off ebay for 99p! in a pocket with the quote “A penny is a lot of money, if you dont have a penny"

This lady I dont have a lot of info of and it was something I wanted to do for her as she is bright as a button! with your nan you could add pages of her marriages births of her kids and her grand kids etc etc

I must have missed the post on the washer dryer (dishcloth and towel). I really like the idea. Do you just wrap them up together? Is there a label that goes with them? Sorry to ask lots of questions

liamsmum - from Christmas lets get organised thread -
its a tea towl wrapped with a dishcloth and a tag with the note.. there are a couple different quotes out there, the one i know is

This Christmas our ship has finally come in
We are feeling so wealthy and rich
    Instead of some small rememberance
This year will be quite a switch
We're giving a gift of high quality
No more cheap presents for us
Ot's time we really went all out]
But dont worry, its really no fuss.
We considered giving you a sports car
    Or maybe a tropical cruise---
But we decided to be more practical
And give you something you could use.
So,open the box and you may be surprised,
To find not ONE gift, but two
We hope you will put your presents to work
    It's a WASHER & DRYER, too!!!!

I've adapted the last verse a bit and am putting that inside so they won't know what it is until its unwrapped

I've got a couple I'm trying to work out the wrapping of............I got two dish mops so that makes them awkward. Can only think of concocting a sort of tube out of card and putting them inside.
Should have got normal dish cloths.........oh well.....live and learn............lol:rotfl:
